I got that. And I love a good jab at the fandom as much as the next guy. But the episode wasn't funny. He was just a colossal douche to Steven all episode.

Rocknaldo.
why'd I even get my hopes up. It had its moments, but it wasn't strong. I have to say though, way to go getting everyone hyped up for a Ronaldo episode of all things.

The "be a fan, just don't be that fan" message was alright-ish, I guess? I mean, it's not like it's something that people don't need to hear. But it was just...pretty much pure cringe? Just second-hand embarrassment for jerknaldo and feeling bad that poor Steven had to put up with it I guess. But at least we can cross the mandatory "obnoxious neckbeard character annoys everyone with pissbaby-and/or-dudebro behavior" episode off the list.

Mostly, the false advertising is a bummer. I was excited to see an actual bloodstone a new gem and instead we get...this.
I guess it's a good thing I brought my own.

it was an average episode, I thought there were a few good jokes. Ronaldo cutting milk cartons up was a funny parody of internet stereotypes. also I liked when Amethyst said "woah he just got truthed so hard he died!"

Related note, fandom online is showing a lot of love for Bloodstone characters right now. Apparently it's being tagged "bloodstone revolution" if anyone wants to go look at some magic rocks.

Edit: New thought. Did anyone else get a serious abusive vibe from Ronaldo's behavior? I mean, beyond the regular being a jerk stuff, like how he twisted it around to make himself out to be the victim and made Steven blame himself for totally reasonably not liking the shit treatment. Just...blugh.

There was that, briefly trying to convince Steven to cut off/question other friendships (Connie), demanding to be included in everything and making a huge stink when being told that was unreasonable (missions), moving into the house without bothering to ask if it was okay (disrespecting boundaries). I don't even remember whether he even apologized properly to Steven for it all (I'm not about to rewatch to verify).

Luminesa wrote:It seems quite a few characters show this streak, every now and then...
Most of said other character have at least some redeeming qualities though, and don't generally check quite so many off the list at once.

Yeah, but there was like whole episodes dedicated to My Little Pony villaining the shit out of them.

With Ronaldo, its like he tries to rip Steven in half like a lunatic and then he's like oh, my bad. And everyone just rolls with it. Like that's it, once line of dialogue and its fine, its cool, no hard feelings.

Like, dude just tried to kill a guy and nobody mentions it. This is like a regular human guy that almost brutally murdered some kid and then the kid told him how stupid he was being and then he stopped and that was that.

Ronaldo needs some god damn therapy is what he needs! And like a restraining order.

Bloodstone is an edgy teenager.

I mean, where does it get off calling itself bloodstone.

Its not even red, its green with red spots.

Blood's not green, bro!

Unless you're a bug.

Ronaldo is a bug person, confirmed.
