I'm a big fan of System of a Down. I was expecting Daron Malakian's solo project, Scars on Broadway, to be something similar.... but Christ, this album sucks. Disappointing.

Serj's solo went even more weird and eclectic than SOAD. I thought it was pretty interesting.

Daron did the opposite - he went poppy, accessible, sterile. And it fails to even be catchy, which makes it just boring. I loved him as a secondary vocalist for SOAD, but he doesn't hold up well by himself for 14 songs.

I hope the hints of a SOAD reunion album are true, because Serj and Daron balance each other out nicely together.

ONE of the numerous reasons we broke up was because I started the band with the idea of being a blackened melodic death metal band and ended up with a mainstream-wannabe deathcore band.

The sad thing is it fucking worked. I just wish that we got our album out before we broke up. >>

My band broke up because they ego maniac guitarists didn't know what the words slow down mean. Honestly back then I couldn't sing that high for 17 tracks at that speed. Fuck that. We needed ballads but no egomaniacs everywhere.

Personally I tend to prefer raw hardcore, crust and grindcore over all those fancy metalcore bands, but I remember the one time I saw Bring Me The Horizon live on stage. It was a pleasant show.

Also there's Pro-Pain, a band that has been around for a while. I saw them live on stage during festivals more than once in the past, back in the nineties this video clip was often featured on MTV's Headbangers Ball. Ah, nostalgia.
