I've noticed melodic death metal comes normally from one of two main sources: British heavy metal or European power metal. I personally prefer melodic death metal inspired by power metal

Metallica (The Black Album): 9
Load: 5

St. Anger: 1
Death Magnetic: 8.5

So a recap: Metallica (The Black Album) > Master of Puppets > Death Magnetic > ...And Justice for All > Ride the Lightning > Kill 'Em All > Reload > Load > St. Anger

I was going to do this after I finished the initial, independent reviews, but kept forgetting and putting it off.

*sigh*

Kill 'Em All: 9.25/1
Ride the Lightning: 10/10
Master of Puppets: 10/10
...And Justice for All: 9/10
Metallica: 6/10
Load: 5/10
Reload: 4.75/10
St. Anger: 1.5/10
Death Magnetic: 7/10
Lulu: 0.5/10

Lulu doesn't count, it's a collaboration.

Also, you're wrong about all of those except Load. Load is accurate. We agree on Load. You gave St. Anger a far too high rating though.

Meanwhile, I just got the newest album of Turmion Kätilöt. Kicks some major ass so far, currently at 3rd song. I also got Airdash's last album (Both Ends of the Path, 1991) on vinyl, but I'm listening to that a lot later.

Regardless, Hurd is wrong as usual. Euro isn't a victim. He started a fight and lost his life because of it. When you're picking a fight with a dude who has no problem setting fire to churches then you have to predict that there is a possibility that dudes gonna kill you. It was a failed act of attempted murder, so he's not a victim and Nazarene wasn't victim blaming.

Bottom line is Euro made a poor decision, fucked up, and got killed. The end. I only wish he'd taken Varg with him, it's not like he'd be missed too much. He'd be less missed than Hitler.

Load is an average album, tbh. Reload is far better though, I don't get why people think it's as bad, or worse, than Load. It's really not. It's a pretty solid album. Maybe not for Metallica it isn't, but it's pretty good regardless.

Good songs on Load: The House Jack Built, Until It Sleeps (one of my favorite Metallica songs actually), King Nothing, Bleeding Me (another favorite)
Good songs on Reload: The Memory Remains, Where the Wild Things Are

I should actually change those ratings now that I think about it...

Fixxer (two x's or three?) is also a good track, but there's not a lot I'd listen to on Reload other than that and the tracks you listed. I actually haven't listened to Load in its entirety, so I can't judge.

Part of me wonders what that song would sound like in a different genre. The lyrics are some of my favorite by Hetfield, it's a shame that the album sucked as a whole.

I still think Until It Sleeps is one of my 10 favorite Metallica songs. Very well structured and lyrically torturous.

Best song (with vocals) on Ride the Lightning.

Yes, I think Call of Ktulu is better. Hell, let me do this:

TOP TEN METALLICA SONGS
10. Until It Sleeps
9. Fade to Black
8. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
7. Call of Ktulu
6. Dyers Eve
5. Master of Puppets
4. Seek and Destroy
3. Orion
2. One
1. Battery
