I'm very surprised at the love Deafheaven has been given. They are quite possibly one of the most boring bands I've listened to recently.

Sadly, your band isn't mine, but if they stopped playing pure thrash metal and switched to a tough guy version of Motley Crue, they could sell like they're Metallica! You should check out the Dissection album Reinkaos, while a melodic death metal album with more of black metal vocals, it's surprisingly easy to understand. The songs are damn catchy too.

I never even got the appeal of shoegaze, probably because of the indie kid in freshman year who was obsessed with it. Blackgaze is basically black metal for hipsters. Nuff said.

So I realized while my riffs may be brutal, they lack in sheer speed and complexity. So I'm going to learn how the masters do it. I'm going to learn Decapitated's The Negation.

I checked the tab for it, it's in C# standard so I'm already good to go with tuning. And from the looks of it, the chords themselves seem very easy. The trick seems to be getting the rhythm itself down.

I mean, NSBM is an entire genre, and outside of symphonic metal what percentage of major metal musicians are female? Obviously, not every band is racist or sexist or whatever, and they chose pretty bad examples (about half of Tyr's latest album is about women whose badass level is greater than or equal to the men involved, for example) but there's definitely some sexist and racist stuff out there.

And the sexist and racist stuff remains a considerably minority. Oh and there are more women into metal now than ever before.
