First three albums are black metal, the next three are viking metal, followed by two thrash metal albums. 9th is a viking metal album, 10th is thrash and the last two are viking metal.

My top 5 songs are The Wheel of Sun, Great Hall Awaits a Fallen Brother, 109, Death from Above and Nordland.

But metal in general isn't really "school appropriate", with the extreme genres probably being the worst.

The closest to "school appropriate" there is in metal would be glam, but even then you'd still have a hard time finding something "school appropriate".

What about Iron Maiden's history based lyrics, with songs like Alexander the great, and Aces High, both based on history?

I have heard neither of those Maiden songs before.

Like I said though, I like them and don't actually think there's anything wrong with liking them. They're just easy to make fun of, like 90% of the other bands I listen to.

My dog (German Shepherd) loves metal. After we're done running around through forests and/or fighting each other afterward (I wrestle/spar with my dog, I usually win but get a little bloodied up sometimes), we head up to my room listen to Bolt Thrower. Then sometimes he'll be away and I'll flip my amp on and start playing a few brutal riffs and then he shows up and lays down right next to the amp. And then watches me looking like happy with his tongue sticking out of his mouth.

German shepherd is the only real dog. At some point in the future (not sure how near or distant) I'm going to get myself a cat and a dog. Not sure about which cat, but dog will definitely be a German shepherd.

Also, kitties are metal.
