Primarily the radical, kink, and queer communities. I'm also into the punk and alternative scenes, and am a furry and an active gamer, so there's that.

I think that Clovenhoof is saying that "furries" is analogous to "science fiction genre" in that example.

Who knows?

I was part of both communities for years, never saw any similarities between the two beyond sharing the anthropomorphic animals concept. Ah well, I'm probably going off topic here.

Gamer subculture is the only real subculture you've listed.

Star Trek is enormous. If Trekkers organized against the government, we would win. Given, of course, we set our phasers to kill.
And if you call furries and ponies/bronies subcultures, then Trekkers qualify as a full blown culture.

Trekkers are most certainly not a full blown culture. They are in the same distinction of Star Wars, since both of them are the Sci-Fi culture.

Edgy Opinions wrote:Emocore fan. (I'm not an emo, and I've always doubted such thing exists, as most of the scene kids commonly identified as "emos" have never listened to true emocore.) Which is pointless to identify with as it is a minor subset of the wider indie rock fandom.

Western otaku (also known as Japanophile), particularly within the fujoshi/fudanshi segment (i.e. yaoi/BL/bara fans).

Tucute. I would say tucute is an ideological subset of transfeminism, intersectional feminism and/or 4th wave feminism/2010s online social justice movement but I'm not sure.

Wow, when did we get to 4th wave? I thought It went Proto-Fem (1790s-1870s), 1st Wave (1880s-1920s), 2nd Wave (1963-1979), 3rd Wave (2001-Present). At least this is in North American terms. I specify that 2001 is went 3rd Wave feminism started because I remember learning that a lot politicians tried to justify the US involvement in Afghanistan & Iraq as a form of feminist politics or feminist victory. Regardless of whether this is actually true, I guess we'd call it the event that made a lot Feminists really consider topics like intersectionality and 3rd world feminism?

But the subcultures I mostly stick to are social justice feminism (especially trans/fem/anime/communist twitter & s/t PoC. Yes that's all one single subset), nerdfighteria (but not as much in this specific category as I was 2 years ago), and I borrow a lot of my sense of style from my scene kid days, but that subculture seems to have been almost wholly absorbed into hipster culture. The result is a lot of people calling me hipster and me whole-heartedly denying it because I'm really just behind the times rather than being ahead of them.

Let's see, I'm a big cartoon nerd, whether they're Western or Eastern. I mostly prefer slice-of-life, so, some people might call me weeb trash, but I try to reject that. Also, I'm a big map/globe/geography nerd, so, I flipped my lid when I found out about the New York Public Library's Map Warper. I visit the Wikipedia:Blank maps almost every day. I've color coded a couple hundred maps of the US based on what political parties were in power, what the dominant political alignments were in power, and some economic/standard of living factors. I was able to identify a globe my family bought from a garage sale as being specifically from 1979 because of the unique border and nation names. In high school, I would spend hours during my vocation hours in Google Maps just exploring, in and out of street view. This Autumn, I'll finally be attending a class/lab on GIS's. I'm really excited, but also nervous that I'll be really terrible at it and all this time I've devoted to geography will have been a mistake.

So yeah, I'm most strongly in the social justice feminism & cartography nerd subcultures.

Edit: I also lurk on a lot of otherkin & fickin communities, even though I'm not actually in either of those subcultures.
