That's what I'm saying. I'm getting all of this money from Constantinople without any physical presence in the node. Of course you'll get a lot of money if you have provinces that lend you trade power to it.

Just playin' Vicky 2 with Spain when an event popped up that said I either had to gain 1 infamy or lose 5 prestige. The 1 infamy put me at 25.06 infamy. Exactly 2.4 seconds later, everybody and their mother declares war on Spain. Mierda.

There is no reason ever to suck the infamy even if it costs you influence with a state.

It is incredibly rare for that event to matter even if you're vying for supremacy over a state and if you're doing things half right you'll be gobbling up prestige anyway.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. Everything that you see in that screenshot is the result of the Ottomans clicking the Westernize button.

Yeah, HoI 2, I rejected it because the cost was too high. Also, I should note that I took control of the Spanish Republican military for the civil war; it is 1938 and the war appears to be in stalemate. Everywhere but the farthest north (Leon, Galicia, Burgos, that area) have been brought back into Republican control, but the Nationalist defensive line still holds. In response, I declared war and am preparing to bring forces into Spain.

Just give cores to them, join coalitions against enemies of the Byzzies, give them monies, improve relations, and ask for access, etc.
