Tensions between Jean IX de Valois, his governor Maeldan de Machecoule, and the people of Nowydh Breizh have never been higher. With unrest in continental Brittany due to Jean IX's fervent devotion to Catholicism despite his subject's adherence to the Reformed Faith (Ile de France became a Reformed center and converted all my provinces, and then promptly reconverted them once I got them back to Catholicism.), there is utterance in Noywdh Breizh of a rebellion against the crown.
Even with the crown officially having ceased tariffs on Nowydh Breizh goods more than a decade ago, the people are convinced that the crown is focused much more on their internal problems than on their colonies, and with the governor, de Machecoule, starting his own colonial initiative to delve deeper into the Amazonian territory, some radicals believe they'd be best as their own nation.
So, I'm loving this new colonial system, vassals are no longer obedient little slaves. Nowydh Breizh (Briton Brazil) has grown to a size that doubles Brittany's base tax and land force limit, and that's caused liberty desire to skyrocket to 127.5%. If it wasn't for my NIs and Jean IX's Diplomatic Skill of 5 I'd have lost the colony decades ago. I think that when the colony finally rebels against me (The rebellion has ceased to be "if" and has become "when") I'll play as them during their war of independence and onward. However, our other fledgling colonies of Loelgwik (Present day-Uruguay and parts of Argentina) and Labrador have been pretty obedient.

Is there no way of maintaining colonial nations for several centuries? After sinking several thousand ducats into them, I'd like to get something back from them....

So how's the creator? I haven't yet bought it and I only saw videos of its earlier versions... They removed that bug with the first letter of your ruler, right?
Unfamiliar with that particular bug. I know a hotfix went out, but it didn't mention that particular bug.
The creator's pretty fun. National Ideas give you so many choices to play around with, for example, and buffing the points limit up to 800 lets you go hilariously wild (though it does make the game too easy for my taste beyond the lulz).
A few things I don't like, ruler/heir names after the first are randomly generated based on culture, so you can have like, Jonathan of the Jonathian States for generation one and then get something like Vladimir next because you took Russian culture. There's also rather few choices in terms of emblems when it comes to flag design and you can't change their colors. A friend also complained about how it prevents nations from effectively holding large island chains in the Pacific due to distance from homeland limitations.
But overall I'd say it's great just for the amount of potential you can have with even just one custom nation, not to mention 20 of them.
