Update on my Karluk game:

The four nieces. Not pictured is that Yeldem Karlukid is actually the bastard daughter of Tolun Uzlukid, the half-brother to the current Khagan of the Uzlukid Khaganate and Yeldem Yeldemid, herself a bastard of the Uzlukid dynasty, herself being born from a bastardous relationship between an Uzlukid and an Uzlukid bastard, Count Pulad the Lecher and Yeldem Akgulid.

So the current Yeldem, unbeknownst niece of Kutan, is actually the third in line of Uzlukid Bastards that have been produced by prior Uzlukid bastards fucking Uzlukids. Uzlukid.

The state of the Khaganate in 1034. We are the premier power in our region and among our neighbours, sporting levy sizes in the mid-to-high 30,000s depending on the Khagan's martial skill. Religion and culture could be described as nothing short of SNAFU. You may notice the Gupta Raj down in Bengal. Yes, it is the same Guptas. I checked the history for the dynasty and found that there's Gupta history going back to the 300s, with a number of the characters owning an emperor title.

The Middle East. Currently, the Bahirids, the Caliphs of the Arabian Empire, are on their fifth Bahir, Bahir V, and are stronger than they appear, the only plausible threat to the Khaganate as we know it. The only other noteworthy things on this screen are the Mahdi Dynasty, who are actually Persian (Bedouin-turned-Persian), the Persian Tamimi dynasty in Oman, and the Farrukids, who are Shi'a.

The Steppe is mainly divided into the Hindu Khazars and the Manichaean Kulug Uyghurs. Khotan is ruled by the Sogdian Manaid dynasty.

Europe. Another SNAFU moment. Nothing to see here but this. Oh, and the Karlings are extinct.

Finally, for those of you who may have not believed me initially, yes, that is a Khazar-turned-Greek Hindu Emperor of the Byzantine Empire. Also see: Hinduism dominant religion in Anatolia.

Pick an island. That is the best advice I can give you, pick some island far away from anyone else.

EDIT:
I was reading the stellaris page. Looks like there will be self replicating doom bots!(scroll down to "be wary of the cost of progress")

I hope that I can play as those doom bots, that would make an interesting faction to play as. Tons of bonuses such as self replication, but everyone hates your shiney, metallic, moderately radioactive guts, how long can you survive.
