HoI3 is basically producing some divisions, upgrading tech, and accepting trade agreements while waiting for WW2 to break out so interesting stuff can happen. Japan, Italy, and Spain are really the only countries I've had fun playing. Spain and Italy because I fucking love colonial warfare for some reason, and Japan because events actually happen. >.>

Unless you want to type "noneutrality" in and conquer the fuck out of everything in your vicinity.

As a person who RPs in all of Paradox games because he's too good at them to play normally without feeling dead inside, here are some ideas if you want them:

1. Cut military spending during revolts to simulate loss of morale.

2. Election events: unindustrialized, rural, mountainous and undeveloped provinces usually lean conservative, highly industrialized provinces likely support socialists or liberals. Regions next to hostile countries would love more military spending, war ravaged regions don't like war. 3. In non-elective forms of government, pick the faction that has the most support in the upper house.

4. somethingsomething taxes

So, update; it's 1854 and Belgium is a GP. No colonies, just a industrial powerhouse funded entirely though tarriffs. Conservatives have held a majority since the beginning, but support's been drifting to both the reactionaries and liberals.

If you elect liberals and your factories are dependent on subsidies, there's economical castration.

Sweden is nice for roleplay. Nobody bothers to attack you, and just as easy to reach GP status.

Tfw you're called into war against the King of England, the same dude who stole Northumbria and Cumberland from you, all his forces are gone off to the continent, and you can safely siege his capital with no threat of retaliation. War ends when you're about to sack his first holding.

I cry every time.

Though I kicked Britain's ass in HoI3 by utilizing artillery corps and light armored divisions.

That sucks, though i think that happened to Belgium in my own France game a good while back, pretty sure i ate half of it, maybe all of it, cant remember.
