I'd like to write a novel or just create some sort of story. I want to experiment with different mediums(comics, films, books), but for a written novel, or novel series, I've got a few ideas. Maybe I'll do it for NaNoWriMo, or I'll do some short stories first. Since the OP mentioned this site's forum RPing, which I'd like to get into, I'll use that as a practice place for my writing skills.

I would, perhaps in a time when I become a better writer.

Yeah, I'd advise using RP to maintain your skills. That's what I do and I think it helps a great deal.

I hope to become an author someday. Have a few ideas for books, I think they're pretty good.

Currently in the middle of writing a novella (possibly a novel). Would love to be an author.

All true.

The distinction I would make, however, is that RPing is a collaborative/group exercise in a lot of respects, and so that makes it different than writing normally. Not necessarily harder, but the skills used for RPing aren't always transferable - for instance, if the plot in an RP is flagging, I can work of what another player is writing; for a novel you have to manage that yourself.

I highly doubt it although I might write pieces from time to time but I'll never finish them.

I would, but my writing is godawful, since I'm going through some mental health malarkey.

I'm alright at writing non-fiction.

I can write short articles for my Sports RPs, but I would never write something similar to a novel just as intense RPers do in the NationStates category of the forum.

I've always loved writing. Ever since I was a kid, I'd write short stories and stuff. RPing is good fun too.

Yes, Illinois. You know, Land of Lincoln, Prairie State. I don't think I misspelt it. I hope not, I've mentioned it pretty often in 75,000 words worth of novel.

"Story set in Illinois" would have been clearer than just "Illinois."

I'm actually sort of reconsidering doing it. I'm better with Short Stories and Vignettes, but I could be able to finish a full novel if my writeboner stayed strong for long enough.

I've considered writing a novel. If there was a good chance of it being at least somewhat profitable for me, I would consider writing one in my spare time, as I enjoy writing.

I have story planned ahead for 3 60 page novels.
If only I didn't suck so much at writing, I would already have them completed.

I've always enjoyed story telling and RPing here on MS while writing small stories for my English classes so writing a novel wouldn't be a massive step as far as progression goes. My issue is time and the overall benefit of writing one. I e heard horror stories about the publishing industry so if I ever felt compelled to write a novel is most definetly do it independently, no financial benefit but the joy of seeing people interested in what I have to write is also extremely rewarding. Maybe one day but not right now or at anytime in the near future.

What horror stories about the publishing industry? In my experience, most of the hate toward the publishing industry comes from either people getting mad they can't get professionally published or people that don't know the industry and don't know the difference between scammers and real publishers.
