I mean, I'll probably never publish it (even finishing it will be a stretch), but yeah.

My issue is time and the overall benefit of writing one. I e heard horror stories about the publishing industry so if I ever felt compelled to write a novel is most definetly do it independently, no financial benefit but the joy of seeing people interested in what I have to write is also extremely rewarding. Maybe one day but not right now or at anytime in the near future.
What horror stories about the publishing industry? In my experience, most of the hate toward the publishing industry comes from either people getting mad they can't get professionally published or people that don't know the industry and don't know the difference between scammers and real publishers.

Usually it's stories about first time authors getting screwed financially by publisher, issues of restrictive ip integrity on the part of the publisher, things like that. I've just heard it though the grape vine so I can't say if they are true or not but I'd still say self-publishing would probably be easiest.

A young orphan who is being raised by his aunt and uncle receives a mysterious message from a stranger, which leads him on a series of great adventures. Early on, he must receive training to learn skills that are seemingly superhuman. Along the way he befriends loyal helpers, specifically a guy and a gal who end up falling for each other. Our young hero is also helped by a number of non-human creatures. His adventures lead him to a dark and evil villain who is terrorizing everyone and everything that our hero knows and loves — the same villain who killed his parents.

Normally I end up quitting after between 1000 and 3000 words, but I'm hoping that I carry on further this time. The problem is, I have all these great ideas, begin to write them down, then something comes up, I have to go somewhere else, and then I come back and forget where I was. However, one could argue that because I forgot them, they were not good ideas. With this most recent one that I've been doing though, I've not forgotten the idea so easily, and I seem to be able to make it flow a lot easier, so hopefully I can do this one to the end (eventually). I may publish it, I'd probably get a few close friends opinions first though, to see if it is good, before publishing it or something.
