We already have one comedic relief in the show and Pinkie Pie does it better. Granny Smith doesn't really bring anything new.

Granny Smith is not comedic relief. She's the sometimes crazy, sometimes wise old person.

Killing her would make a hole...

There was no loss. Just idiocy. It wasn't the five stages (Which is a myth, by the way). She's not getting any sympathy with that BS excuse.

Are you even capable of sympathy?

Past experiences and all kinda point to no.

RD literally went through the entire 5 stages of grief (credit to Ceffy for finding this info):
1. Denial: Denies that hibernation even happens for anything other than bears (doubts info in book, etc.)
2. Anger: Screams at Pinkie ("Don't say it", etc.)
3. Bargaining: Literally trying to stop a season from coming (acts of terrorism, etc.)
4. Depression: Straight-up bawling (4 waifus crying, etc.)
5. Acceptance: Self-explanatory (explains itself, etc.)

Was nice lesson for the kiddies.

Everyone on TV goes through the 5 stages of grief. In that order. In the space of one episode. It's more a lesson about television conventions than it is about grief.

Excellent argument.

Obviously because she somehow didn't mess up the weather system and cycle. Winter came, no harm, no foul.

If anything, she should have been investigated for the sabotage.

Also, winter came quickly. That's not really good for the weather system/cycle. There's probably a good reason why they don't just dump a bunch of snow on the ground at once.

Then again, it may have never occurred to them like that, or, you know, tradition!

Good episode is good.

As for the lack of consequences, the answer should be obvious. Twilight and the rest of the mane six are Equestria's greatest weapon. Plus, Twilight is now royalty. The six of them are completely untouchable.

I'm also thinking that this episode might be the closest thing the show ever does to dealing with death and loss, for those of you who want to see that kind of episode. Apparently RD even went through the five classical stages of grief.

Agreed on all points.

Though Dash seemed a little irresponsible for what is a fairly common occurrence for animals like Tank. She seemed to regress to a much earlier stage as a character.
This seems like an issue at the core of MLP FIM, there's always going to be episodes where one of the mane six does something or reacts so over the top you have to wonder if we're still watching season 1.

I think they should have killed tank, or had his life threatened somehow otherwise all of the drama in this episode seems largely generated by Dash's own immaturity. When she clearly isn't that immature at all, she's just portrayed as such to fulfill the needs of the episode.

Don't misunderstand me i'm not hating on the episode I actually really enjoyed this one, it had some amazing scenes that got me chuckling and I loved the chaos that occurred in Cloudsdale. Seeing the weather factories again was so cool

But without the "emotional justification" if you will for Dash to be upset I didn't feel much for what were supposed to be dramatic moments.
Or maybe i'm just like AJ. :o

Obviously the pony economy is different to ours (due to the nature of powerful magic) so the chaos from Dash's little moment probably wasn't as big as it appeared.

And her previous attempts to prevent winter from coming would have helped lessen the impact of a sudden er "snow blast"?
upon ponyville.

I would like it if things like this keep happening throughout this season an d the next where members of the mane six done fuck up but no consequences are given. Then one day, one of them fucks up bad enough that the other five realize that holy shit, this needs consequences, but there still aren't any. They're all like what the hell and start asking around about this, and all the other ponies explain that the six of them are untouchable, and that's how it's been for a long time. That's when they start realizing how much shit they've been getting away with and how their privilege has caused them to start losing touch with reality.

I think it's perfectly fine. Dash has never had a pet before, and she's only had Tank fir less than a year. Plus, she's probably never had to deal with loss in any significant way before. She's like a new parent getting told that her kid is leaving her for a long time. How would you react to that? In addition, Dash has shown a propensity for blowing things out of proportion and making a mountain out of a molehill. This is nothing new for her. She was perfectly in character this episode.

Another thing: good character development doesn't change the base personality. No matter how much some people might change, they're always still the same person. It's nice to see when things actually acknowledge that. Dash overreacts. That's just part of who she is, and it will never go away.
