It would have been so much more fun to have had him remain a recurring villain. The narrative of him returning to his old ways was easily the most exciting thing about the season 4 finale.

You really couldn't tell when Spongebob started going down the tubes? It seemed pretty clear to me, even at the time, that the show had lost it's zany touch post-movie. Perhaps because of complacency on the part of the writers? Who knows.

I wouldn't know much about The Simpsons. It's golden era was a tad before my time.

I almost do.

Pinkie has seen a noticable drop in IQ this season, not to mention she is just getting crazier.

Every season has had its share of bad morals, but the last one really had quite a few that either were badly developed/botched ("Castle Mane-ia", "Rainbow Falls", "Three's a Crowd", "Somepony to Watch Over Me", "Equestria Games"), almost non-existent/far too general ("Trade Ya!"), or made no sense whatsoever ("Daring Don't", which also goes in the "badly developed" category).

To me, nothing had really jumped the shark this season, but only because whatever would have made the show do so happened last season.

S4 was really a mixed bag-- full of really good episodes and really poor ones. I just hope S4 doesn't repeat the bad stuff.
I’m mostly here for... something to do, I suppose.

I wouldn't say her IQs dropped, but she has definitely gotten crazier, which is probably the reason why she does "stupid" things now (shenanigans don't tend to yield intelligent and informed actions).

I actually quite like the increase in random Pinkie stuff going on. I think it fits more with her character to just say silly and ridiculous things more if not most of the time.
