Bethesda, make it so we can make characters our bitch with our physical prowess and have them remember it in Fallout 4.

Do we even know if Caesar's Legion are going to appear in Fallout 4? I don't even know what the setting is.

Probably not, Fallout 4 is in Boston, the legion was down in Arizona and Nevada. I doubt they would expand that far nor would be capable of doing so.

Fucking Boston XD Yeah no there's no way.

Considering how clean things look in the Lone Wanderer's new house, they're not running around covering things in viscera like Capital Raiders.

Also... Am I the only one that's disturbed by just how murder-happy the Capital Raiders were? They seemed to kill their own for shits and giggles and then hung their fucking mutilated husks on meat hooks to rot and bleed.

I don't think even Mojave Fiends were that fucked up.

Summer sale is going smooth already.

Already nabbed Shadow Warrior, Wolfenstein: The New Order and Metro 2033 Redux. Holding out for Empire at War, Dishonored and Space Hulk: Ascension to get a deeper cut.

The Legion was huge, but I don't think they extended passed the midwest. Boston is on the east coast, so there's the whole of America between them, basically.
The Enclave is dead as far as we know, and it's possible that a resurgent BoS retook the east coast after the Enclave's hold over D.C. was destroyed, but that's a bit unlikely considering the state of the BoS before.

Who knows what the dominant faction will be in FO4.

The Legion didn't get past even a state line. From what I understand, they only have Arizona, and they barely have it, considering they're barely holding together even when Caesar is in charge.

Considering I've never heard mention of Boston before and considering how close it is to D.C., and how successful the Capital Brotherhood of Steel was, I'm going to guess it's going to involve them fighting some new problem. Perhaps an Enclave Remnant gone rogue?

At the start of New Vegas the Legion have destroyed Nipton, which is not only west of the Colorado River, it's west of Nevada as a whole. One of their outposts, Cottonwood Cove, is an actual place in Nevada.
Sure they're based near Lake Mead, northern Arizona, but they extended far beyond that.

And yet, they only hold those two places in the whole of the Mojave.

And Nipton they don't even hold, they razed it because most likely they couldn't hold it if they tried.

And Cottonwood Cove you can dump a fucking truck load of radiation onto and make it uninhabitable.

So really, the only thing they hold is Fortification Hill, which isn't even NCR territory to begin with.

What? What I heard was that they control most of the Four Corners states.

Yep, it's known that they control or at least influence Phoenix (South-Central Arizona), Tucson (South Arizona), Denver (Colorado), and bits of Utah and Nevada. That's a fair bit of territory on its own, and that's just what we know of from NV.

No, that's just the only part that you see. Most of the Mojave is either NCR owned or Vegas, and the game doesn't extend past that.

Do you really think that the entire Legion could wage a war of attrition against the entire NCR (which, by the way, is huge) if they only controlled a single fort?

Honestly, you'd think that they'd just lose the war entirely, considering that the Fort (which is also basically their capital) is snuggled right up next to the only faction in the Wastes that poses any kind of legitimate threat to them.

The Fort is actually in Arizona, despite how close it seems to be to Vegas in the game. That means that if the NCR wanted to attack it, they'd have to cross the Colorado River and launch a full assault into Legion territory. Considering how beat up they were after the Battle of Hoover Dam - a battle they won - I have a feeling they wouldn't win that fight.

Alternatively, though, they can just contract an assassin of some note, maybe some Courier or something, to assassinate Caesar and watch the Legion scramble to re-organize. In the meantime, the NCR can regroup, rebuild, and strengthen their position in the Mojave, while waiting for the Legion to tear itself apart, to the point that they can in fact cross the Colorado and mop up the stragglers, if there even are any, considering just how loose alliances in the Legion are.

... Which, in my game, and probably canonically, they did.

Or, or, the Legion tries to re-take Hoover Dam again, the NCR puts up a decent fight, but then suddenly some robots from Vegas come in and wipe them both away.

The Legion controlled huge swathes of territory in Arizona, Colorado and Utah.

It's why they were able to go toe to toe with the NCR, who, iirc, even have mechanised units in their army.

Also, while the Legion was expanding westwards (because the NCR blocked it in the East, it would be unlikely they would reach Boston.

Yeah, I'm aware. Still, you wouldn't think it'd be that hard to send a couple of Rangers with nuke launchers across.

In which case, the same thing as the NCR winning happens.

9 times out of 10, the Legion looses.

Which makes me wonder... Why does Mr. House think that keeping Caesar alive is ever a good idea?

In the short run, having someone who isn't Caesar (Lanius immediately comes to mind) control the Legion is just as good. Keeping Caesar alive and in power is what makes the Legion extremely dangerous.

The NCR, at the very least, is willing to play ball with Mr. House, even to the point of tolerating him messing around with them, or at least they were at some point.

Without Caesar, the Legion is weakened, making their defeat during the Battle for Hoover Dam all the more likely. The NCR is already weak. Leaving Caesar alive makes it more likely the Legion will regroup and re-invade the Mojave Autonomous Zone, resulting in him loosing either way.

It also makes me wonder why the hell Caesar never tried to establish a dynasty like any good dictator/despot would.

Oh, right, narrow-minded "genius".

Considering all of the flaws of the Legion I've outlined, it would be EXTREMELY unlikely they got that far.
