I always start in the 30s for Hearts of Iron 3. It is mostly waiting as you research stuff and form divisions and click events.

It feels like forever for a unit to form.

It really does depend on the case, though. Like I don't really approve of micro transactions in a $60 video game you already bought, that is freaking UBISOFT of all companies (Assassin's Creed: Unity). Sure, you don't HAVE to buy it, but that just sounds like they're trying to milk out the cash as much as possible. Especially with apparently how much you can freaking spend, which was like $100 at a time.

II wouldn't have a problem with devs selling you content after release.

I DO have a problem with devs removing content from release just so they could sell it back to you later. That's what Civ V is; cut-out content they're selling for $25 extra each.

I don't think there's any question that Mass Effect 3's From Ashes DLC is a perfect example of this behaviour. The level of integration with just about everything in the game is beyond coincidence. I admit regret at feeling I had no choice in acquiring it, From Ashes is a lore-lover's wet dream.

I can't really give much of an opinion on RTS games, given I've only played two, disliked one, enjoyed the other.

Your friend has exceptional taste. :). Do you have an idea of which game you're going to play first?

24 saves, 38 hours, and one minute, and I've beaten Mass Effect 3.
And the story of Shepard comes to a close.

It always does. For all the flak the combat system got in ME2 (namely, clips), it was better than the Jade Empire-with-guns basis in ME1.

Fuck clips, fuck space and shift being switched, fuck E not being used to interact with stuff, fuck whatever the new decryption shit is (although that's what I said the first time I tried it in ME1, so who knows), especially fuck the new layout for the tactical command/weapon shifting thing, fuck apparently not being able to use the keyboard to open the journal, codex, and squad screens, fuck the way you've got to move the Normandy around in-system (although it's more interesting, so I guess it's alright). I do really like the new Normandy, though. And the way cover is handled seems better, too.

And on a completely unrelated note, I really hope that at some point someone asks why every time Shepard visits a new space station, the first place she goes is the local strip club.

I actually liked the clip change. Sure, the overheating system was innovative... But, with the right rifle and the right mods, you could fire instant kill shots indefinitely. ME2 made the ammo cap/pickup too low for decent rifles to be an actual primary, unfortunately. This was rectified in ME3, with them viable as long as ammo conservation on the mind.
Also, unlike many games, it fits into the lore very decently.

Thankfully, since it is on PC, we can rebind the keys. Though the quickmenu buttons removal was stupid.

This is... pretty much how I felt. Maybe it was also a move to force your average Soldier classer to use their squadmates and abilities more? All it does for my Soldiers in 2 is force me to pick up the Revenant solely for its ammo load.

The "ammo powers only" thing for Soldier and my hatred of Adrenaline Rush make me yearn for custom class creation in ME4 - Incendiary Ammo, Incinerate, Overload, Warp, Singularity ftw. :p The damage bonuses to Soldier are also nice, but the Vanguard's focus on both power recharge and damage is even nicer.

Medi-gel is pretty much shit now, I miss being able to throw people around like ragdolls, I can't tell who's got what powers....

I also wish I could still kill anything short of an Armature with one hit from a shotgun at thirty paces, but I can understand why that got cut. :p And the interrupts are kinda fun.

Oh hell no. You will NOT pollute Wisconsin's mind! The Mattock is the one true assault rifle. All others are complete and utter trash in comparison and there is truly no better weapon specifically for a Vanguard than the Mattock. Inferno Ammo on a Mattock with the Vanguard benefits helped me get through the hardest moments in the game on Insanity, without breaking too much of a sweat.

Am I the only person who finds the Paragon interrupt with the Quarian on the Citadel the most satisfying? Warm and tingly good feelings . . .

I don't know how he turns out later on, but right now I actually feel kind of sorry for him. He probably worked his ass off getting to the ambassador position, had a good chance of getting on the Council, came this close to doing so, got screwed over at the very last second for a washed-up soldier because someone with a short fuse and lots of influence was inconvenienced when he made what was with the information available the right decision, and then got made the assistant of the guy who got his chair, who doesn't like his position and didn't even want the job in the first place. And he probably would've been the better choice for the job, anyway; he may not be as principled as Anderson but I wouldn't be surprised if he's much better at playing the game.

The only reason I'm up this late (2:30 AM for me) is because I'm writing an essay that's due in... *looks at watch and counts using fingers* Six... is it six? Yes. Six hours.

I respect the Mattock for "serious" playthroughs, but if you're unleashing ObamaHitler Shepard on the world, there is no more appropriate time to let out your inner John Rambo. :p

Still playing Skyrim since I was never interested in ESO (although with Sub Fees ditched I might give it a look) and have pretty much maxed out my character to the point where I can't really due much with him anymore/getting board with him. Been thinking about going back to Morrowind and Oblivion and giving those some well needed attention as when I did own them I wasn't used to the open world aspects and did mainly the main quests so some actual gameplay on those games would be nice.

Can you still find copies of Morrowind out there? I'm sure Oblivions still floating around but I have no clue about Morrowind.
