Yeah, I agree Long Feng and Zhao should be added. They weren't lackies, they were full blown villains in their own right. Unalaq should be added to, even if you don't like him. Or at least Vaatu.

Kinda gotta agree. I mean, you could argue that Unalaq was merely Vaatu's minion rather than a Big Bad himself, but Long Feng and Zhao both stood pretty solidly as arc villains in their own right. (Even if Zhao was more of a starter villain than anything. :P)

1.Are you serious? It was, thematically, inevitable. 2.Every book basically ran with a "You're no longer needed" or "The Avatar is obsolete" message. In terms of developing that the writers a) remove something that makes the Avatar unique and b) create a strong sense of loss on Korra's part, which sows the seeds of doubt. 3.You also get the issue that continually turning to the advice of Aang would hamper the ability of the writers to allow Korra's own character develop... you didn't have that with Aang in ATLA because of what Laerod said but also because each use built up Roku's personality as well.

Furthermore, the older mentor role was already taken in Korra's case so the niche was already occupied.

1. Yep
2. Then they also would have needed to get rid of the Avatar State, but that didn't happen, so she's still unique. Plus they could have done well with the "You're not needed" problem while having the connections still intact
3. But she almost never did, even when she had the connections I can only think of one, maybe two times she asked for help for Aang

Could they? Removing the connection also weakened the Avatar state. Kind of hard to run with a you're not needed plot when the central character is definitely strong enough to make criticisms like Ameri's valid.

Seriously, ONE POST ABOVE.

That he's a henchman didn't actually cross my mind. LOL.

Yeah, Zhao even got a cameo 70 years later!

Yes, they could've easily done the you're not needed plot while keeping the connections(Hell, we could've seen more of adult Aang's personality).

You sure? A lot of those lower ring buildings tend to look a lot alike at a glance. o_O

Or at least one very similar. The buildings in the background skyline in LoK could be new additions, or a pointer that it's just a similar style of mass dwelling. Really hard to say for sure without more definitive info.

Wow, I just noticed on a whim from memory the similarity! Now that I am actually seeing the comparison, yes, I have no doubt they are the same building! just look at the resemblance! It is uncanny!

The building in the background skyline is obviously a new addition. After 70 years, of course there will be some expansion. But that is definitely the same building.

Also, we all know this is going to happen:
