For me the scores are 46/250 and 41/50

For me: 96/250 (I know I know, it's not a lot. But that's because I watch tons of non-mainstream films as well) and 45/50.

182/250 and 36/50

I am not as good on modern blockbusters as I am on classic films.

163/250. I think I've seen a lot more but a lot of the older ones I just couldn't remember seeing, even though the names and or plot seemed somewhat familiar. Only put ones I knew I'd definitely seen.

On the second 49/50 with just Twilight left off.

Yes, I only count only relatively recently-seen films, I mean- I watched far more films than that but didn't document that and even if I know that I have seen them but don't completely remember what happened in them I don't think it counts.

Anyway, i heard ASO has a sequel. Will be watching it sooner or later.

Yeah, but I was in the 90's myself- lol then I'm old I guess.

Anyway, the sequel is unofficial- it is not Kubrick's work. But I do think that this "sequel" was made with the co-writer of 2001: ASO.

It still says it's a sequel. That being said, I'm not sure how the story is supposed to continue from the first movie, with it ambiguously closing all paths.

I guess you are indeed talking about:

Like I said, it's not official, it's not the same director, not anything. So don't take it that seriously as a sequel.

Yeah perfectly understandable, english dubbs are for the most part fucking terrible. Can you find a version of it from the same source that is not dubbed? Or is it the only one available?

I haven't searched another source yet. Actually, my sisters have the movie (in Indonesian language), but they and my mom says I'm too young to watch it.

I'm now 13. And IMO, 13 year-olds should be able to watch R-rated movies, depending on why said movie is rated R. And as far as i know, the movie is rated R because of action violence, which means that i should be able to watch it based on my own standards.

Honestly thought you were a lot older than that.

And again i watched a ton of stuff like that when i was around that age, and its not as bad as some stuff so yeah i think it would be alright but then again your parents obviously think differently which is understandable.

The whole silly list of Oscar nominations is here.

I had a clean sweep this year: didn't see one of the films up for serious awards! :p I was going to see Birdman, but forgot. But some of them will re-open around here -- there's a theater that shows all the nominees for major awards -- so I could drag myself off to them.

I saw 4/5 films nominated for Best Visual Effects and not a lot else from that list.

From that list I've only seen Big Hero 6, How To Train Your Dragon 2, and The Lego Movie.

All I've seen is Dawn of the Planet of the Apes on there....:P

Glad to see The Grand Budapest Hotel gettingp raise, though. I wanna see that damn movie (Partially because Saoirse Ronan is in it), but Wes Andersen movies never show up on Netflix in the US apparently.

Also, damn, the same guy got nominated for 2 soundtracks of the year out of the 5

And yes! Johann Johannsson is up for an Oscar for a film. Generally dig his music quite a bit.

What exactly do you guys think makes something a "foreign" film? Because technically for me, any British movie or something like that would be a "foreign film", but I never hear those being classified as foreign films most of the time. Is it just something like "It's not in English, so it is a foreign film" or something like that?

Yeah, it would have been entertaining if the LotR movies had each gotten a "best foreign film" Oscar.

Pretty much.
