Have been watching all of these except for the Walking Dead and Battlestar Galactica. Thank you for the recomendations.

Anyways, what are everyone's Favorite Movie of 2014? I don't keep track of movies nearly as much as I do with music, but I was surprised by how many I saw this year in retrospect. My favorite was definitely Interstellar, followed by Guardians of the Galaxy, The Giver, and The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies. Worst? God's Not Dead.

Same for me, Interstellar especially was a great film. Considering when I first saw the trailers, I though it would just end up riding the coat tails of Gravity's sucess.

Also, I may be in the minority, but I actually preferred the DoS to the BotFA.

While I enjoyed the show, I think it is overrated. It's certainly a good show, and the actors are quite talented, but I couldn't get into it. But, then again, I'm generally not a fan of dramas.

Alright, so I just checked the list of 2014 movies I've watched (I rate them on a webpage), or more like dug for them since the specific searches seem to be broken:
Heatstroke (Starring some cool people like Maisie Williams of Game of Thrones but was kinda meh. Well acted though)
Wicked Blood (Again starring people I've enjoyed, like Abigail Breslin, and Sean Bean of Game of Thrones, but was kinda meh. One scene I found to be kinda epic, though)
X-Men: Days of Future Past (Had an enjoyable scene but I also found it particularly lacking)
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (Cool visuals, but I didn't really love this movie, either)
Divergent (Cool concept, meh story)

Okay, I've seen more than I thought But pretty much every single one of these I rated a 6/10...Sooo yeah, not sure on a favorite. Seriously, I haven't seen like, any worthwhile movies this year...

I think if I had to choose, I'd say Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, because thinking about it more, I could up it to a 7/10.

I used to watch a lot of films... I mean a lot. But this year I've turned my attention to TV shows, and am really starting to prefer them over films. I can develop a strong liking for the characters and you can really see those characters develop over a longer period of time than a film which is 2 hours or so long. TV shows you can really explain a story, especially a complicated one. I've had a bit of a TV binge this year, having watched:

Breaking Bad, 24, Lost (bad ending but really enjoyed the journey), Walking Dead (up to season 4), Sons of Anarchy (up to season 5 currently on 6), V (budget show but enjoyable), Game of Thrones, Under the Dome (one season, liked it at first but really tailed off towards the end so stopped watching after series one), Heroes, House of Cards, Vikings, Black Sails (really impressed with those last 3), Hell on Wheels, Copper (season one couldn't really get into it, but might give season 2 a shot next year), Homeland (up to season 3, need to watch the last season), Babylon (great British TV), Gotham, Started the Arrow and Revolution didn't much like them after the first 2-3 episodes, Alpha House and latest one is Orange is the New Black which I'll probably finish watching today.

I plan in 2015 to watch:

Ripper Street, Alcartraz, Extant, The Newsroom, Fargo, The Wrong Mans (though I have seen series 2 just not the first series), Boardwalk Empire (season 2 onwards), Hostages (possibly, I've seen the odd episode but wasn't too impressed), True Detective and of course the final 2 seasons of SoA.

Based on that list does anyone recommend any other shows you think I should add?

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I've kind of done the same thing, though trying to pick off like 30+ seasons of shows I'm behind on is a bit of a pain in the ass :P. But at least one plus side is that you're more likely TO get TV shows popping up on Netflix at least.

Daaamn, you really have been busy with shows.

I'm not sure I can really give any specific suggestions. I don't see any real Sci-Fi there so I'm not sure I can recommend that.

Also, I thought Revolution had some really good moments, but my god the 2nd season got repetitive. It was practically the same concept over and over again throughout the entire season.

Haha just a bit. Helps most of them are on Netflix or Amazon and when one episode starts at least with netflix another will play straight away so I can easily be persuaded to watch another one, when I should be sleeping!

As for Sci-fi I like Sci-fi films but not really come across any compelling Sci-fi TV shows. Sure you have SG1, Atlantis, Farscape as well as the Star Treks, but you can usually dip in and out of them and not really miss out on anything if that makes sense. I prefer a story that is told over a number of episodes for character development. Another problem I have with Sci-fi is if it has crappy CGI or effects it really puts me off straight away. Like with Doctor Who, though that has other problems with the acting/story line.

So if you do have any Sci-fi TV shows that have good acting, a good story and good visual effects I would probably watch it and enjoy it.

My top two non English films are both war movies.

First is Brotherhood, a Korean movie about two South Korean Brothers who are conscripted into the army to fight during the North's invasion. Really powerful stuff with an absolute heartbreaking final 30 minutes. This movie has made me cry several times and contains some of the best movie battles i have ever seen.

Second would be Downfall, a German movie about the Fall of Berlin to the Red Army and the last days of Hitler and the Nazis. Fantastic movie and a great performance from the actors who played their characters perfectly, especially Bruno Ganz who played Hitler. And also its the source of all those Hither rant parodies so that's a bonus

I didn't see the first one, but when I watched Der Untergang (Downfall) YEARS back I remember being split about that. But again, that was like a decade ago.

What do you think about my picks?
