Let's make a Religion!

(Inspired by this thread.

Here's a little community project I'm going to try—the creation of a religion. Can NS A&F create a whole mythology, with all the stories, characters, and creatures associated with it? This will take some time, but the more people we have working on this, the more detailed and interesting it should be. I'd like to see a variety of interesting stories, as well as a developed "canon" of sorts. We'll determine some of the more general aspects of the religion through polls, but discussion in the thread will be necessary for progress.

I should note that I'd like to see this religion be more than just a set of philosophical and spiritual beliefs, and actually have some stories and legends associated with it. I'd also like to see this religion actually have deities of some sort, for the purpose of advancing a structured set of beliefs. If you objects strongly to this, though, feel free to tell me.

So, first off, we'll be deciding what type of religion this should be. Monotheistic? Ditheism or Bitheism? Polytheistic? I'll put up a poll, and if you have any suggestions for what should be on it, just tell me.

You can either submit gods freehand, or with this application. Please, do not use any other application, it just makes it harder for me.

Creation myth outline—One day, there was [INSERTHEADDIETYHERE]. He then went insane from loneliness and his mind broke into several different personalities. Being a god, [INSERTHEADDIETYHERE] created new bodies for the new personalities and thus the first gods were born.

Polytheistic would be the most fun to create, since we don't all have to agree on a single god and its characteristics. We can all make a god! Like one big (not so) happy family!

Ah. Free hand is fine, though before we start to create gods, a theme of sorts should be established. You're going for something similar to the Egyptians, being closely tied with an animal?

Do you mean a constant companion, or just a symbol, like the Peacock for Hera? The latter could work, I imagine, though I'd prefer if the animal wasn't too influential in the design of the god, but rather have them be more influenced by their domain.
