I think it's perfectly reasonable to say the Grevious who handed two jedi masters their asses on a silver platter is a wholly different character from Lucas' wheezing 'moustache twirling' Grevious.

Okay, then please elaborate on what makes it bad.
Other than the shitty childish romance scenes between Anikan and padme. I already know that shit's bad.

What's so bad about the prequels?
The United Colonies of Earth exists:
to encourage settlement of all habitable worlds in the Galaxy and perhaps the Universe by the human race;
to ensure that human rights are respected, with force if necessary, and that all nations recognize the inevitable and unalienable rights of all human beings regardless of their individual and harmless differences, or Idiosyncrasies;
to represent the interests of all humankind to other sapient species;
to protect all humanity and its’ colonies from unneeded violence or danger;
to promote technological advancement and scientific achievement for the happiness, knowledge and welfare of all humans;
and to facilitate cooperation in the spheres of law, transportation, communication, and measurement between nation-states.

Hayden Christensen. Jar Jar is tolerable.

Hayden Christensen is not.

The entire episode III script sucks ass too.

Episode I is tolerable, just because fucking Hayden Christensen isn't in it.

Hayden Christensen is a decent actor. The only problem is that his acting ability relies on the director heavily.
Watch any movies with him in it that doesn't have as hokey a script as this one and he can actually give a good performance.
His best scenes are in episode 3, and are the ones where there are no lines. He has the ability to give a quality performance but Lucas's direction and the script, and the reputation of the previous two prequels are what make it look as if he is shit.

Episode 1 had a couple cool scenes but they included the parts with earth maul and palpatine.

Well then. It's been a long time since I watched the prequels, and when I did watch them I was about twelve. I suppose that watching the movies at that age, or without the viewpoint of a critic, allows one to take a more positive opinion of them (which I have overall). Then again, the Battle of Coruscant seems to have been poorly designed, even with the EU explanation that the Home Fleet had been diverted elsewhere by the CIS.
