Sometimes I just forget to finish things.

I've cut meaner onions than that overrated melodramatic trite, it just didn't get to me for being really cheesy. Though, tbh, the only anime that's ever made my sob in sadness has been Now and Then, Here and There; it's like "Animated World Masterpiece Theater meets Hotel Rwanda".

I didn't mention that...did I?
Clannad wasn't supposed to be sad though. That's what Clannad After Story's for.
Also, don't you mean "Gundam without the Gundam"?

I still didn't see what's so special about it.New haven america wrote:Also, don't you mean "Gundam Without the Gundam"?
Like I said, I don't care much for giant walking things. And I found it scarily impacting, shit like the water issue already happens in the Horn of Africa with or without giant flying fortresses or your precious mecha...and in the end, like a good deal of sci-fi, seems to reflect on the uncertainties of the present using fantastic plot devices. The writer did have Africa in mind, probably not your big-shots.
...
And best of all, it was only 13 episodes long.

I agree, it is a good series, but there are very obvious flaws (Also, some of the best Gundam series are only 3-13 eps.)

1. I must be a very snide person there if it didn't get me to flinch, moé-ish characters can backfire on my mood. Though it's a bit wrong to say that I think some "defenseless" characters have it coming for being so inept.New haven america wrote:And they have transporters that can teleport them to different worlds and time periods, why couldn't they just take some water from those worlds/eras?
2.I inferred it takes water/energy to start the time-machine up and that it apparently also had mass limitations. They did take like 3/4 of the series trying to get the fortress to work even with the amount of water Lala-ru set off. Either way there's this thing called plot-device.........aaaand Hamdo does't really seem the most reasonable type around most of the time.New haven america wrote:Also, child soldiers, crazy fascist leaders, giant robots, rape, magic, the horrors of war? 3.The simplicity made it better in my opinion, I still reject your formula, there's plenty of mecha out there. Besides, I think it did a notable job in painting more Irregular aspects of war without any typical coolness, as the technical means themselves weren't really a main aspect other than their bare necessity.New haven america wrote:It's adorable.
4.But apparently not edible like Menchi.

New haven america wrote:3. Gundam is actually pretty simple. What coolness? Gundam is a character driven franchise, it just happens to involve giant robots (Which in the UC timeline at least, has a viable explanation/reasoning for why mobile suits are used).

1. The transaction in face of the cost for operating the machine would remain the same if their mass-energy limit is considered, there'd be nothing to gain. And even then, there's the possibility they loose chemical matter in the fantastic machine; which speculatively may lead to considerations in high-energy releasing reactions and quantum mechanics.New haven america wrote:3. 2. That wasn't my point. Warfare in Gundam from what I know definitely appears less rusty and better coordinated institutionally, and when it's not is at least more considerably asymmetrical with it's contenders. On the other hand, Hellywood can hardly be considered a nation and not much else can be said of it's tribalist opponents; it's pure Irregular Warfare. And with mostly unspectacular means compared to other anime if I may add, even the destruction of Zari-Bars really wasn't much materially.
