Because animation takes a long time to produce? I mean even with flash, you still have to do each and every frame. There are like 25 frames per second in an animation film, so for a 30 minute show like MLP:FiM, that's close to 4,500 frames. Not to mention the voice acting, the writing, the editing, the clean-up, the background art, etc. etc. There's a ton of shit that goes into animating a 30 minute show.

Not to mention of that new that has recently just came out last month.
