And what use would she be to them? She has no relevant powers or abilities that would prove useful to their goals. She's just food like the others.

Well, Tirek didn't need Discord; what he needed was for Discord not to be helping the people he was up against.

The Dazzlings couldn't have known beforehand, but without Sunset Shimmer's help to the mane six the evil plan would've gone succeeded; Sunset stopped the mane six from splitting via argument, and helped them in the finale.

The problem, though, was that Discord was easier to turn. He hadn't fully become good (and still hasn't). He sort of missed being bad. Meanwhile, Sunset had changed so much that she loathed who she used to be. An attempt to turn her would have been much less successful and might have tipped their hand too early. As it stood, Sunset only figured out their plan when it was almost too late, but such a blatant attempt to break the group apart may have led her to realize their goal sooner and, thus, more easily put a stop to it. Trying to seduce Sunset to the dark side would have been an unnecessary risk.

Also, with Tirek and Discord, there was no risk at all. Everyone already knew Tirek's plan. Even if he had failed to turn Discord, it wouldn't have hurt him any worse. Trying to turn Discord could only benefit him.

Watch for at least a few seconds, keeping your eye on the center of the circle. Unless something went wrong, you should be starting more than 7 minutes in, so just let it run from there.

I think failing to turn Discord would've been fatal to his plan. He was still pretty weak when Discord found him.

Yes, worse, because Discord was there to stop him. His options at that point were flip Discord or go back to Tartarus.

Take a look at this image. Dead center is the moon as it appears in the first episode of the first season.

After all of that effort to explain it, it doesn't seem like much. I guess I'm just pleased when pony makes its way into high-visibility stuff like a video of Google saying that we need to go back to the moon and you can't stop us because we're Google.

Lolwat? Discord was there to stop Tirek. If Tirek did nothing, his plan would have failed. If he tried to turn Discord and failed, his plan would have failed. The latter is not worse than the former, and I have no idea how you can claim otherwise.

...I'm confused. It now appears that we're saying the same thing. Let me start over.

I had assumed you were saying that, once Discord arrived, Tirek could either turn Discord and gain a powerful ally, or fail to turn Discord and proceed with his plan, no better off and no worse off than if DIscord had never found him at all. My interpretation came from this line (my emphasis):
Also, with Tirek and Discord, there was no risk at all. Everyone already knew Tirek's plan. Even if he had failed to turn Discord, it wouldn't have hurt him any worse. Trying to turn Discord could only benefit him.

I was saying, and now I think I understand that you also meant, that failing to turn Discord would have resulted in mission failure, and that it was essential to try.

If the deer are going to = elves than does that mean the reindeer will = drow/dark elves? And odes that in turn mean I should keep my eye out for some reindeer renegade dual wielding scimitars somehow... After all if the comics are going to throw out so many shout outs I wouldn't put it passed them to go further.

Okay, I see the mare-in-the moon bit now.

Anyway, I have now solidified in my headcanon that the Dazzlings of Rainbow Rocks are a purposeful reference to the Plastics of Mean Girls, independently of the merit of a Sunset-gone-back-evil plot.
