That was always going to be the issue. Tennant was always going to be a hard act to follow, and the easiest thing to do in such a situation would be just to copy the previous Doctor.
I'm still routing for an old man as a Doctor incarnation.

Martha Jones was the first 'coloured' companion, so it would be fitting to finally have a coloured Doctor (no racism intended). And as for the old man incarnation, I think the First Doctor seemed old enough.
On the acting side of things, you're right, David Tennant is a hard act to follow, but I think that Matt Smith can equal him.

Dunno whether you mind a non-member posting here (as it doesn't specifically say), but yeah, Tennant's act was going to be hard to follow. Still, even after Tennants heartbreaking ending in "The End Of Time" (which, due to my lack of televison in Uni, I only watched yesterday), i'm of the mind that Smith's going to be quite good.

An old Doctor won't happen. It would alienate the kids who watch the show. Showbiz secrets ;)

A note on the episode Chrisman Union mentioned, which is entitled "Victory Of The Daleks", and is the third episode of the series (so not long to wait Chrisman!). I'm quite interested to see how far they've taken the "Spitfires in Space" idea. Simply because in RPing, I play a nation in space based culturally on 1940's Europe and America. So we have Spitfires, Messerchmits and Mustangs in space. All the time. Wonder if Moffatt's familiar with these forums? :eyebrow:

Moffat playing NS? Way too unlikely, but what if one of the members here is one of the Nu-Who cast and crew in secret?

Ozymos, Techncally its possible...you could do an alien race that wanted to invade earth in the 40's but just never got around to it...how scary would it have been for someone in the 40's to have seen P-51 mustangs shooting spitfires with lasers...it would have caused britain to accuse america and then it would have boild down to those two possibly duking it out while the damm aliens attacked...so all in all its a plausible theory xD

Pandorica. Thank god for subtitles.

And to Floor Kippers...

Cybermen? Very probably. Being as there's at least one in the "Coming Soon" trailer, and they've done it before, it wouldn't surprise me.

Which is ep 12 I believe.

Undoubtedly.

Here's something. Despite "The End Of Time" wrapping up all the loose ends in the Tenth Doctor's story (Including the semi-obscure reference back to "The Family Of Blood" with a small cameo from Jessica Hynes) i'm still lost on one thing.

The woman, the one who speaks to Wilf at the beginning of "The End Of Time". Who is she?

And yes, i'm well aware she's a time lord. Once I saw the "Coming Soon" bit with Gallifrey, it became obvious. But there's a moment where the Doctor looks at her during his stand-off with Rassilon and the Master. Almost a look of recognisation. Anyone else spot this?

The opinion in my family was that she was his mother, although I'm not sure why. I also looked through the DWA magazine while babysitting some friends, and that made no explicit reference to who she was, even asking the question of her identity as though it was a big mystery to be found out with the Dawn of Smith.

Likewise, I immediately thought it was his mother. I still do.

EDIT: It seems we're both right, too.

Doctor Who Wiki - The Woman wrote:In the final script, the identity of the Woman is not revealed. In REF: Doctor Who: The Writer's Tale - The Final Chapter, Russell T. Davies states that he created the character to be the Doctor's mother and this is what actress Claire Bloom was told when she was cast. However Davies acknowledged that the character could be interpreted as any trustworthy Time Lord, including Romana, a regenerated Susan or even a future regeneration of the half-Time Lord Donna Noble. Also noteworthy is the possibility and rumor that she is The White Guardian in disguise, as he has been shown to have immense power, which he could have used to disguise himself as a Time Lord. The character is credited as "The Woman" which, in Italian, is "La Donna".

Really? I prefer it. It is similar to the classic theme, though a little over-dramatic.
