Something about the way a Sontaran says that they want to invade the Moon utterly convinces me he'll do it. Also, as this is set before Demon's Run for Vastra, does that mean she'll be really confused when he turns up later with a totally different personality?

That's probably why he was serving time being a nurse on that planet the Doctor picked him from.

No, that was to restore the honour of his clone batch. You remember, when General Staal tried poisoning a planet?

Are you sure it's set before Demon's Run? Strax could have survived with a little brain damage, as evidenced by his desire to attack the moon.

Hey, he has a point - it's been done before.

I know I shouldn't have done, but I found Strax to be bloody hilarious, far more funny than it should have been. Maybe because it was just similar to all the human alien conspiracists.

I had doubts about evil snow.

I still do, but they've been lessened.

I think that that's what Moffat must be aiming for, because I found it to be the best part of the prequel.

"I have declared war on the Moon."

I don't know why, but that was the best thing ever.

I hope we get a lot of Strax in the next episode - that would be fantastic.

Even better - the trio appears again in the third-to-last episode of the series.

It really was the best,

Also I just realized what your flag is. I want that in RL.

I just found out David Tennant wants to be in the new Star Wars films. I strongly approve of this.

if they are anything like episodes 1-3, then for davids sake dont, he is to good of an actor to be undercut by bad screen writing

It might suck, but there are reasons to be optimistic. They've hired an Oscar winning writer and the guy who wrote The Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

And if it does suck, at least Tennant acting in it would mean that at least one part of it would probably be good.

[egytpianmythologynerd]This could be the best or worst episode in the show's history. If it's true, they better do Akhaten right and show him as he was, not as your typical Hollywood pharaoh.[/egyptianmythologynerd]

They better have Sutehk, or at least one of the Osirians in the episode.

That could work, potentially, but I doubt they could fit the proper historical you need for Akhenaten in with the alien invasion thing.

It would be pretty awesome to have a nice bit of conflict between the monotheistic society of Akhenaten's reign and the old gods themselves, but there isn't enough time, and I'd rather Cross not louse up history.

It's a matter of timing.

It would take, what, 5 minutes of pre-plot exposition, probably 10 to establish what Egypt's like under Akhenaten, 5 minutes to show what he himself is like, 10 more of standard monster stuff, 10 to explain what the hell an Osirian is, and then 10 to 20 more to wrap the plot up satisfactorily? 50 to 60 minutes. That's assuming the episode doesn't have any sub-plots or other major characters. Too much.
