It's a nice scene for Amy - she knocks some sense into the Doctor, who is a raging bastard (in a good way) for most of the episode.

It's far better than pig-slaves, dick measuring against the Cybermen, and whatever terrible adjectives one can use to describe Journey's End.

I'm not saying the others were any better, I'm just saying Victory is right down there with them.

As an aside, I think Eccleston would have made Daleks in Manhattan work.

No - the problem was not Tennant, it was everything else.

Tennant's a decent Doctor saddled with some godawful material - Manhattan is the most obvious instance.

Anyhow, I don't think Victory really does anything wrong - it just never goes anywhere.

It felt more like an Eccleston storyline than a Tennant one, but never mind.

Victory did a lot wrong, for me. But then I'm not really a fan of the feelz endings that are everywhere.

Victory was really just an elaborate way of bringing back the rainbow Daleks.

Eccleston style and Tennant style feel much the same to me.

Which doesn't necessarily make it a bad episode - just a gimmicky, unnecessary one.

Churchill is good in it.

Here's an interview that Ferguson did with Capaldi back in '09, in which they talk about their time in the band, and the one night that they were both on acid.

On another note, I seriously need to stay away from the Facebook Who groups today. It's sheer anarchy out there.

On a refreshing note, Tumblr, which is usually an emotionally compromised hellhole of squeeing, seems to have taken the news quite well.

Yep. He was a punk rock musician back in the day. Also, when he decided to do standup, he thought that "Bing Hitler" had a nice ring to it, so he used that as a stage name. The man has a colorful past.

Yes...many of the fangirls are quite upset. I haven't seen anything like this since...well, since the last regeneration. And the one before that.

I've always been disappointed by the lack of a Doctor bearing a pith helmet, we had one with a bow tie, why not have an incarnation of the Doctor with a pith helmet? (Preferably that mildly pointed Victorian pattern)

Pith helmets are obnoxious.

Now, a top hat or a bowler? They're classy.
