We've all seen the warrior in Tenant, the lord in Smith, but Cumberbatch would have showed us a much more inhuman version of the Doctor, which I thought would have been refreshingly alien.

But, I'd also rather him be in Sherlock than Dr. Who

If anything, Tennant was more a "lord" and Smith is more a "warrior".

But I wouldn't call Matt Smith, Bearer of the Fez, Destroyer of Worlds, anything resembling a soldier.
