It also features Patterson Joseph, who would have been my pick had the choice been mine, being pretty great.

It was a joke.

It should be evident that I don't actually have any idea what I'm talking about. Except when it comes to Doctor Who, where all of my opinions are right and the rest of you are wrong.

My experience of NS'ers as of late has left me a humourless jaded husk failing to see the joke in any post.

Which is funny, because NationStates is really just a gigantic joke Max Barry is playing on us all.

He's really Welsh.

I thought I could do this again, but I have too much on my plate. I have to actually give up on this. Sorry everyone.

I read somewhere that only a few bets tipped the bookies towards Capaldi.

I assume these bets were Smith's, Moffat's, and Capaldi's.

Hey, not all fanfic writers and readers are idiotic shippers.
"Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.

I was really rather hoping for Cumberbatch, was I the only one who thought he could've really changed how we all view the Doctor?

Cumberbatch is too busy to do the role, and is already in Sherlock.

It would be wrong. I know other Doctors have done Holmes, but that was a bit different than this iteration.

No.
You're probably the only one here, though.

I'm not sure what Cumberbatch could do with it - I know he's a versatile actor, but he's stuck as Sherlock in my head.

I'm more concerned with what Capaldi will do.

We've all seen the warrior in Tenant, the lord in Smith, but Cumberbatch would have showed us a much more inhuman version of the Doctor, which I thought would have been refreshingly alien.

But, I'd also rather him be in Sherlock than Dr. Who
