Finally a proper Name For the Main Villains

Actually it isn't. The name Silurians, and the name Eocenes, which the Doctor, I believe, references, are would both be completely impossible. A creature that supposedly evolved before the moon existed would be much, much, much older than that.

I'm really looking forward to next week's, though. If nothing else that episode had a good cliffhanger. As for the Silurians- I reckon we could take 'em. We've done it before and if those scaly nutjobs are wondering around dissecting people then we've got the right to defend ourselves.

As I recall the Time Lords, even the Doctor, reserve the right themselves to wage war. Somewhat hypocritical to deny us humans the right to defend ourselves. The Daleks were fought with weapons far more terrible than bullets or even nuclear bombs. A quick strike to contain these lizards and make it clear to them that we are not the half evolved simians they farmed three hundred million years ago will make them willing to negotiate and accept our right to exist. Look at how they've acted- like we have not right to the world we took and shaped after they fled into the dirt. They had hundreds of millions of years to form their society and develop their technology. They may keep their fine cities in the world below. They may even come in peace to the surface. But an attack- the voiced threats to commit genocide and wipe us from existance? We, as the Time Lords, have the right to protect our civilisation, our culture and way of life. They are just another bunch of interplanetary thugs who're going to get what's coming to them. We'd negotiate happily if they'd send diplomats- treats us with the basic respect to our sentiency and our right to existance.

We've been largely successful too. They're sadistic and speciest and apprently incapable of further change and development. We've got to take action to save ourselves from hitting the endangered list in the most painful way imaginable.

Granted there are crimes on both sides. Let them then send straight out an ambassador to speak with out leadership instead of slinking perfidiously around attacking, kidnapping and torturing people. Let them come and negotiate and form an equal agreement. Perhaps if they were willing to stop thinking of us as gorillas with less hair and muscle then they'd begin to work out the need for intelligent dialogue, rather than putting themselves in a situation where officialdom feels it has to use deadly force in order to safeguard society from a horde of genocidal, pretentious dinosaurs.
