He wouldn't have been able to turn the locks on the submarine through some form of electronic link, he wouldn't have been able to launch the missiles (b/c 750m depth), and I fail to see how the spindly little arms on the thingy were able to rip people apart.

Anyway, I dislike lulzy 'MilitaryAmBad' stories.

You could say that about a Xenomorph's arms.

A way to save the time lords

Postby Rocktopialand » Sat Apr 13, 2013 7:56 pm

I've been watching doctor who a lot recently, when I had a realisation. The Doctor could save at least some of the time lords from the time lock of the last great time war by traveling to a point just before the time lock began. He would then enter it naturally, without traveling in. He could then gather, like, his family and friends or something, travel to just before the time lock ends, then exit it naturally. He could then travel throughout the universe and stuff being happy with other time lords.
If there are any Doctor Who fans out there, tell me what you think of this, if it would work or not, whatever.

That's not how the time lock works. Not even close to how it works.

Liked the shell, not the insides.

An all-around good episode, but it would have - as always - worked better stretched out.

We don't really know.

I've always pictured it as a total annihilation of the Time Lords at the end of their history, but a complete preservation of everything before it so as not to fuck time up.

I know that we don't know how exactly it works, but we do know you can't just go back in time and grab people from it like he's saying. The Time Lock, however it works covers the whole of the Time War, which by the time it had ended easily covered the entirety of the history of the Time Lord's society, that hadn't previously been time locked in the past. You can't just travel to before it starts, somehow enter the time lock, and then leave the time lock, like he's saying you can. There's only one thing that's penetrated the time lock of the Time War. Dalek Caan accidentally entered it and it cost him his sanity.

Not only Davos Seaworth, but Edmure Tully too. :)

I don't know why I love seeing GoT actors in others things so much.

EDIT: Ooh, and Diana Rigg's going to be in an upcoming episode.

Well that was the worst episode of the series so far. Everything was so predictable, and the ending was lazy. Next weeks looks promising though

Yes. I know that by general consensus last weeks episode is unloved, but I quite liked it - in fact its one of my favourites.

I wouldn't say that last week's episode was horrifically bad, but I did think that this episode was better. Personal preference, I suppose.

This week's episode was awesome. Good, proper Doctor Who, I thought it was.

Yeah, definitely my favourite in a while. Though I found it odd that the Soviets all spoke with rather upper-class British accents...

TARDIS translates, as the Doctor said. Hence the Professor's comment about Clara's Russian.

Apparently the Tardis translates accents as well as language.

I like the new season a lot and his new companion considerably more than I did the ginger. Yesterday's episode was particularly one of my more favorite ones (I always find submarine settings interesting), plus it had Captain Sawyer! (Kudos, if you got that reference w/o searching for it).

Once again, TVTropes reminded me that I'm a sad nerd by pointing this out.

The Bells of Saint John - Doctor who?
The Rings of Akhaten - Grandfather.
Cold War - Professor.

Coincidence? Almost definitely. Am I insane? Yes.

But is it something Moffat would be doing? If I have to answer this at this point...
