So...my Bavaria game on EU IV has been less than fruitful. I haven't had any territory losses, but my trade skills suck, and I haven't managed to actually gain anything yet.

Trade isn't something you really do. Trade is something you spend a minute setting up and then ignore for fifty years as it works itself out.


Also lol bavaria. Good luck getting eaten by Austria.

I probably should've just set up trade in places where I could've gotten money and left it...oh well.

Well, the game's been going for ~45 years, and I haven't been eaten yet.... Hopefully I can avoid being lunch long enough to at least take Ansbach.

Steer trade to your home node. That will get you a shit ton more money then collecting.

Valkyria Chronicles' final boss is actually pretty easy...

so long as you have decent shocktroopers, maxed out flamethrowers (for damage), and get really lucky with which towers Maximillian picks. I got him in two turns... after ten attempts. Did I mention luck is a factor?

I got a decent headset w/ mic for about $80. I can't remember the make and model, it was something like Panasonic. They weren't that comfy (they were on-ear), but the sound quality was good and the mic worked well for a USB. If you have the cash, I recommend the LogiTech G230, which is about $125, and you get what you pay for.

The thing I hate about these articles is that they always say "Users of XXX game who downloaded it illegally..." when in reality the fix for the "punishment" was already live before the article was published and the actual punishment was only actually suffered by like ten people.

Trade aficionado here saying that's a terrible idea, Ben. Some of the best collection points are in places where you don't initially have power whatsoever, but still hold a lot of income. Lubeck is an example of a node worth investing in you're close enough. Levy a decent patrol fleet of at least 25 light ships to patrol nodes like those and you'll make a powerful bit of income at the expense of the other nations in the node.

Everything depends on trade power and it's pretty decently easy to get if you're not spending diplo points on other things willy nilly. In my Polish game, I didn't take the idea set and trade still made a large portion of my economy. Trade buildings build up power and value and will result in the easy domination of the nodes you already control and increase the net profit you make. And the more merchants you have running around, the better your naval force limit will be, which should ultimately result in a powerful net gain of your income. With the Wealth of Nations DLC, this effect can be super-charged if you can establish domination with Trade Companies overseas. You can truly establish a global system that pushes trade to all nodes where you collect. So long as nodes that you hold power transfer their trade to those collection nodes, assigning a patrol fleet to them should ensure that the cost of the fleet doesn't outweigh the profit to be made. HOWEVER: Things can fluctuate depending on just how competitive the node is. A super-competitive node like, say, Rheinland, will be bountiful if you get the slightest amount of a trading boost. The total profit of the node is proportionally split between the all of the nations the have the slightest been of power in them. Any nation getting an edge would be a powerful one. And as you can expect the opposite can be said if you control a monopoly over a node, like a recently colonized New World node. No competition means it's largely unnecessary to protect trade because there isn't anyone to protect against.

This may sound complex, but it's rather deceptively easy to understand.
