Thanks for listening. UG is taking the clips down soon so I'm bugging as many people to listen before they do.

I've heard many good things about American Football, that they are an essential emo band. If I love Sunny Day Real Estate, will I like AF too? If so, give me their best album to start with.

They're folk punk, which is the best kind of punk.Merizoc wrote:Dunno if you could consider Chumbawumba to be punk-rock per say, but they're pretty good.

My older brother who's into a ton of obscure music says they're not really punk but wikipedia says they are pop punk, which has PUNK in it. He showed me a Sex Pistols song but the singer was too horrible to listen to. I guess I just like modern punk bands like the ones I listed instead of the old ones.

Filthy Ginger Bastards wrote:Try The Queers or Screeching Weasel. Blink 182 and other such bands were heavily influenced by them, they're sort of poppy, especially their boy/girl songs, but they've got a lot of obnoxious stuff as well.
Cosumar wrote:I second the suggestion of Bad Religion. Their album Stranger Than Fiction was what first got me into punk. Recipe For Hate is a great starter album too. Then work your way into their less accessible stuff like Suffer, No Control, and How Could Hell Be Any Worse.
If you like Bad Religion, you may also like the pop punk of NOFX, The Offspring, Pennywise and Rancid. Though Bad Religion is superior to all of those bands imo.
EDIT: My 7000th post!
