You're welcome. They're the band that got me into emotional hardcore/emo about 14 years ago and I've never looked back since. I can post some more 'skramz'-ish stuff if you'd like.
Soviet Haaregrad wrote: skramz = what real "screamo" started to call itself when MTV started calling any poppy metalcore band with songs about girls "screamo".

I've always considered it more of an attitudinal thing, a state of mind.

I consider NoFX as a skate-punk band.

NOFX (pop-punk forefathers)
Pianos Become The Teeth (enough said)
TWIABPAIANLATD (also known as The World Is, unforgettable emo/post-rock)
La Dispute (whoa)

I would love to see these bands live, especially La Dispute. Rooms of the House is phenomenal. Jealous of you.Soviet Haaregrad wrote:Big ass list
Thanks. I already knew several of those names but just hadn't checked them out yet. Others were new to me. Will probably check Hot Cross first since its similar to Saetia, which I loved.

True. I feel that a lot of the pop punk bands forget the whole anti-corporation thing. I mean punk doesn't have just one sound, but amongst all the different styles, punk shares anti-coporation and subversive sentiments. Without such sentiments it's not really punk, so much as it is a novelty.

Punk doesn't have to be political. Bands like Ramones or Television are almost completely apolitical and are still seen as icons of the genre

Converge and Botch are the obvious big names. Dillinger Escape Plan and Between the Buried are some "respectable" modern metalcore bands, as I'm sure you know.
I'm no expert on the genre, but here's some lesser known ones I like. Real old school metallic hardcore.
Integrity
Vision of Disorder
Rorschach
Glassjaw (maybe not so much metalcore, but still good)

I have been covering Pig Destroyer's cover of Integrity's Abraxas Annihilation a lot lately.
