Yeah, your writing has gotten better with practice. For one thing, you've gotten better at making it clear when the stories are meant to be silly. Early on, you were writing things that were too weird to taken seriously, but it wasn't clear that you were being purposely silly, so people just went "The fuck is this?"

I've had entrants in the past with different types of structure, so it wasn't a big deal for me.

Well, you know. Gotta drop some red herring characters if you want to pull off a stealth protagonist that's hiding in plain sight.

Part of the reason. The main reason was I really liked the idea of a scribe furiously recording events while the city was under attack.
