Project Morrdh - NS Meets Real World

Bit of an unusual one, especially one that was tricky deciding what forum to post it in...since it involves creating something A&F seemed a good a place as any.

What what the heck is Project Morrdh anyway?

It is basically me creating real world versions of my nation's uniforms, etc with the view of using them to produce my own set of photos rather than trawling the internet for suitable images. Since my nation's military is effectively loosely based upon the 1970s era British Armed Forces, it should be a relatively easy project. I may expand to include everyday clothing and perhaps even props, though that remains to be seen.

Anyhows, heres what I'm starting with.

Basic uniforms, as I said, should be fairly easy to get. Though I have been looking into custom cap badges and shoulder patches, may post sketches.

Well the SLR is finally paid off and home, if anything I can start using my own photos for my infantry weapons.

Already mentioned the helmet, have a pair of old British Army lightweight trousers. Have have several pairs of more modern combat trousers in a darker green, so trying decide which one I'll actually use (the more modern pairs have pockets on BOTH legs). Also have a few olive green coloured t-shirts that would pair quite well in addition to a couple of DPM trousers that have been converted into shorts.

Anyhows a few photos.

Tis been a while but I have update, but I have couple of additions.

Got an army shirt now and I've also got a forage/side cap, though the latter needs some work.

Also found a place where I can get custom shoulder titles/patches done.

Wee bit of an update.

Found a site that sells a complete set of 58 Pattern webbing, something that I'll probably get in the next couple of weeks.

Have discovered the rifle butt of the SLR is tad too long for me, may get a second SLR with plastic stock and hopefully adjustable length rifle butt. Also found that the SLR is certainly a British one and made in 1960.

DPM uniform shouldn't be too hard to find what and the various military surplus shops around.

Major issue is trying to find some scrim/camo netting for the helmet.

Another photo update, virtually complete aside from some little details.

When the weather improves I will seek to get some decent outdoor shots.

Not really.

Haven't decided whether the Morridane Army would have any Highlander derived units, besides any remotely Scottish based units would probably have the glengarry.

The early Morridane Army was based off British rifle regiments and so still heavily feature the old rifle regiments traditions and has a rifle green dress uniform.

Long time no update.

The focus of this has changed a bit, looking at moving more towards an early 1990s (ie. First Gulf War period) look rather than a general Cold War era. This stems from an IC decision to update the gear of the Morridane military. Partially due to this, but for other reasons, I've recently sold the SLR I had. So going to be looking at a different deact or maybe an airsoft rifle to replace it.

Still got most of my gear but looking to replace most of that, though the 68 Pattern DPM Jacket I'll likely keep.

The helmet is going to be replaced by a British Mk.6 helmet, likewise the webbing will probably get replaced with a 1990s set of webbing.

A transition look would be something like this.
