8/10. The problem with a lot of Ice Cube's earlier albums is that he sounds the same in all of them. You don't really hear much of a progression in style or skill from his first album to this one (3rd). His skill progression isn't so much of an issue since he's skilled on all three albums, but the production and style of the three albums all sound the same. Part of the problem may be that each of them were released one year after the other...
Anyways, off to another backlog album. Trying to listen to at least one a day.

Kind of a boring album so far... :meh:

80s hip hop tends to bore me though. Wasn't enough diversity in the sound during those very early days of the genre.

Eazy-E – Eazy - Chapter 8 Verse 10

Yeah, not really impressed with this album. The whole funky hardcore Compton, CA gangsta shtick gets old really fast. Fast-forward another 5 years and you start to see some diversity in West Coast hip-hop, but 80s hip hop in general is just kind of boring to me. West Coast hip hop at that time sounded too much like East Coast hip hop. 7/10.
Eazy is still awesome though.

I know a lot of hip hop fans would want to burn me at the stake for saying this, but I really don't get what the big deal is with Outkast. They just seem kind of...meh. I mean, they have some nice songs, and their style is different, but I honestly don't think they're that impressive for all the critical acclaim they've received.
