So, I bought the captured KV-1, a German-Soviet crew trainer, and also the Excelsior Brit.
The Cap KV-1 has an absurdly high winrate, the Excelsior has an absurdly poor one.

Teams just go to shit when I hop in the Excelsior. Timid, blatantly inexperienced, collapse in a heartbeat. The KV-1 doesn't even have PMM.

I've got the B2 myself, it is a fun tank to play. Not that the thing is invulnerable, most tank destroyers and tier IV medium tanks are a real threat. You gotta work that armor and know where to aim that peashooter.

Playing as Tortoise, being the only person to actually try and hold the right-hand lane of an encounter battle, because you know the enemy will come through it. See a Jagdtiger coming round the corner, lock on, fire a snapshot, quickly retreat to better cornershot position.

Realise you accidentally locked onto the Type-59 next to the Jagdtiger you didn't see.

The BDR G1 B, you say? Lovely tank. Played it over a thousand times, merrily wrecking havoc upon hapless hostiles. That 90mm gun is quite the weapon at that tier.

The Excelsior's 75mm gun is really hard to work with. Poor pen, even when firing skill rounds, really poor accuracy.
It's less accurate than the ISU's BL-10 lolcannon, which says a lot.

The only way I can fight in it, is to get really close, sit very still (because the bloom is catastrophic on moving) and just hope my DPM is enough to out-damage the enemy damaging me. Which usually fails, because 114mm frontal armour isn't much at all, especially when much of Tier V is pushing 110mm 6pdr/57mm and 76mm guns.

Would it have really been overpowered if fitted with the 6pdr gun of the Black Prince and half of Britain's other Tier IV-VI tanks?

In retrospect, almost certainly.

I mean, Britain's desperately lacking in a mid-level 75mm gun between the cack inter/early-war sub-100mm stuff, and the Vickers HV, with a whole 145mm penetration (on par with the PC's Flak/56, I understand - ours is still only 132mm), barely behind the 77mm and early 17pdr at 148 and 150mm respectively. It's why people legitimately think the Cromwell is overpowered because it can penetrate almost all of Tier VII and a chunk of Tier VIII frontally. And it's a speedy medium that can seriously threaten flanks anyway.

There's no 110-135mm penetration ~75mm gun unlike what is available to the Germans, Soviets (ehhhhhh, mostly their 85mm gun tbh) or Americans; the Germans and Americans both have a 128mm 75mm option in the M1A1 and L/40 guns.

Last night, until late, I was averaging 4000 damage in my WT auf IV, and pushing 81% towards my MOEs.
Since late last night I've been averaging between 1500 and 2000 and I've slipped to 77.5%

I'm uninstalling World of Tanks. I played twenty three games over the weekend after having the Norwalk Virus, and I lost every. Single. Game. With an average WN8 of 1439. I'm done with WG's stupid, shitty MM system fucking me over despite the fact that I've been a loyal customer over and over again. I get put on the tomato team, get 2,000+ damage, and still die because I'm put on the team that loses. The entire system is fucking rigged. I'm so fucking tired of this shit.

So, I decided to run the long 88 on my E-75 from stock. The short 105 doesn't really add anything; bare DPM increase and increased weight.

The long 88 has accuracy 0.34 - except it doesn't. Hanging back on Thiepval, the enemy broke our line with T110E5, E3, O-Ho, Lorr 40t, E-50, T-62A and T54E1.
And I had beautiful side-on shots against all of them, fully in the open.
16 shots fired, five hits.
Feck off.
Not even from bad leading, all went low or high. Less than 400m, too.

I know. Traditionally, some rounds actually land within the circle of dispersion, rather than perpetually at its extremes. Three of those hits were against the Lorr when it rushed me at knife-fight range.

This was a 100% BIA crew, too.

E-75 was god-damn painful from stock. Didn't run the 88 for long, but after a short while I was getting decent performance out of the short 105. Fitting the L/68 really changes the E-75 into a tank worth running at Tier IX, but it still can't compete in the Tier X space. Maybe the upgraded turret without glaring frontal weakness will help out.

E: oh wow, the top turret gives the L/68 a pretty sweet DPM increase of nearly 300.
