Fuck, what a shitty hour and a half session of tanks. Teams were a bit below poor, but not terrible, but rng was just awful. I quit when I did 0 damage in my tiger P while bounces off tier 6 heavies 3 times. Of course I got nailed by an is 2, a kv 2, and a arty with a 45 second span. Fucking bull. There's no goddamn way I should bounce off a fat ass kv 2.

Only the absurdly high pen vehicles. "Average" stuff, like the 122mm M62, M58, L1A1 and anything else sub-270mm pen (which I simply don't know about) doesn't make it.

Frontal armour is 229mm, which is angled, and then you angle it again around a corner, except driver plate, which is 179mm.

Beyond making me panic a little in my Khaba when I see that the spotted indicator has come up and I can't see the enemy DD (so I have to guess if it's a USN or a IJN DD) and filling enemy smokescreens with torps not really.

I caught a poor Kagero in my Fletcher broadside on to me. His torps were on a reload, and his guns were facing the wrong way... I just held down the fire button and watch hin fall apart.

I lost faith in humanity last night. This point was uncontested by the other team.We than proceeded to lose him and our 3 top tier BBs in a hunt for the enemy Gearing. He turned up at C before any of them spotted him.

But at least Des Moines is great. Would have gotten the Hipper too and gone on to continue terrorizing the other team but i misjudged where the Neptune aimed his torpedo's and ate too many of them.

In the end, decided not to buy gold to buy premium tanks. Spent £10 nearly on Steam sale, absurd amounts for New Year (fuck you taxis), and couldn't spare the £20 I'd have to drop for enough gold to buy the Cap. KV-1 and a British premium to go with, sadly.

Mle 49 is a new premium french T8 heavy tank added recently to the PC version of WoT.

Visually, APCR/HEAT's penetration marks are usually smaller than APs, and HEAT rounds make a distinct sound on impact. There are mods that will tell you what kind of round you're being hit by, as well.

The premium tank sale is going on for 24 hours longer than I thought it was, and I forgot I got £80 for Christmas, so premium crew trainers it is!

Planning on picking up 6500 Gold, which'd let me grab the Captured KV-1 (German/Soviet dual crew trainer), and either the Matilda BP or Excelsior with the change. The rest is for exchanging and whatnot.

It's actually not. The entire frontal hull is around 270 effective without angling. Tanks.gg is your friend.
The turret is 250, but alot of the front is a gun mantlet, which you will not pen. There is a cupola, but pubby juking can make it a rather irritating thing to hit from the front.
If they angle at all, you can shoot through the drive wheel.
Id they don't, you can press the 2 key, and hope youre not a tier 8, where pressing the 2 key may simply not be enough anyway.

But hey what do i know, i've only fought against them and played one. It's not like i've cackled evilly as a batshit ran away bouncing his clip off my front. Or like i haven't watched it live numerous times.

Of course there's also tanks.gg, which again shows us that yes. Even tier 10 heavies and mediums will not pen this thing through the front with ap on any scale of desirable reliability when fighting a tier 8 heavy in your tier 10s.

The turret is nothing but fuck you except for the cupola. Which you know, pubby juking.

How does normalisation work in WoT?

Certain shells, APCR and possibly AP, penetrate a plate at some effective thickness between the "los thickness" presented at the normal and the real thickness of the angled plate, while HEAT only penetrates LOS?

AP normalizes 5 degrees off of the LOS angle, APCR does 2 (iirc, they may have changed this while I wasn't looking) and HEAT/HE do not normalize.
