Literally this.

But also friendly reminder that Podrick is the one true king.

In the early 21st century Siberia was struck by a massive asteroid that brought untold devastation and the collapse of almost every government. An alien virus, capable of mutating its victims, was brought to Earth as well. Eastern Europe, Siberia, China and countless other regions fell to the mutant horde. Europe became a medieval landscape ruled by feudal lords. The Middle East unified into a single Sultanate over time and entered a golden age wherein they have learned to co-exist with mutants. The Americas, which have lost contact with the old world, have turned into a Mad Max hellhole.

The time has come to make yet another nation. You'll probably recognize me.

Did I miss a disclaimer somewhere where it tells you you should have to fiddle with your television's saturation/contrast settings before being able to see the action at all?

Tarsonis wrote:[2] The 3ER isn't an inherently military asset, nor is his purpose expressly towards defeating the Night King. He's sort of a living history archive, he's omniscient, aware of the true history of the world. The Night King's goal is the complete destruction of all things living, as that's what he was created to do, raise the dead and fight off the First Men. As long as the 3ER exists, history exists, knowledge exists. Knowledge of history is the best weapon against the dead. By taking out the 3ER the living would be without their repository of knowledge. This makes sense for the Night Kings motives as the NK is as old as the 3ER. However, humans do have a second repository of knowledge, the Maester's Citadel, whatever it's called. Not nearly as useful as a living repository of knowledge but useful none the less. It would make sense that this would have been his next target, had he not been killed at the Battle of Winterfell.

But how can the 3ER be "humanity's knowledge archive" when nobody even knew about his existence? It's not like he had been some accesable, guiding beacon through the ages, he was sitting in his cave completely isolated from the rest of the world for thousands of years. In fact, why was it necessary for Bran to even undertake his long journey to the cave and back to Winterfell again? Seems to me the 3ER could have simply continued sitting in his tree, where the NK could not have touched him. Nevermind that Bran's knowledge did absolutely nothing whatsoever to contribute to the NK's demise. Everything the living found out about Valyrian steel, dragonfire and the like, they found out by themselves. The only thing Bran told them was that the NK wanted to create "an endless night" i.e., that he was really bad news, which I think they also had already figured by that point.
And just like the 3ER could simply have ignored the whole NK business by sititng safely in his cave, the NK could in turn simply have ignored him and just go on and wipe out all life in the world, which would have meant the end of history anyways, thus making the 3ER's role obsolete.
In the end, the 3ER was neither necessary for either the living or the dead to achieve total victory over the other.

Yeah but Arya is a fan favourite and is basically killing or beating everyone she faces.

I dont like that she got to kill the NK the way she did, Jon should have been there fighting him too.

I figure they could make it make perfect sense for her character next episode (for instance, after so long fighting for revenge, she now remembers what's important and fights to save her family, even alongside those who were on her list), or it could just be A Thing That Happened, depending on what she says. At this point, it's kind of hard to tell what they were going for, since no one speaks afterwards or reacts to what she did.

Also, Arya's not going to kill Cersei. Seriously, she's killed what? Two major baddies now (Walder Frey and the NK)? Three if you count her execution of Littlefinger, but that was really a family effort. There's no reason to think they're giving her every important kill.

Not to disappoint you but Arya is by far the most qualified person to do so because she is a Faceless man. The hard part for her was reaching and killing the NK. Cercei should be easier to reach.

Don't forget Mel's prophecy. Walder Frey = brown eyes, NK = Blue eyes and Cercei = Green eyes. Will she shut them all?

She would have killed 4 major antagonists then in this show.

Walder Frey
Little Finger
Night King
Cersei Lannister

Might as well rename the show as Game of Arya Batman.

Someone else should kill her, preferably one of the two other lannisters.

I really hope they dont, but having her kill the Night King without any support at all just feels like fan service and trying to be unexpected and shocking. They said so themselves pretty much in the behind the scenes videos for the episode.

if Arya helped Jon kill him, i would have been fine with it. If they both fought together to kill him i would have been perfectly happy. Or if one or two main characters died in the lead up to his death i would have been fine, but other than Theon every loss was a side character, and its debatable if you would class Theon as a major character. It felt too easy in terms of major deaths, like all their fucking soldiers are pretty much dead, which i expected, but more prominent characters should have died..

Plot Twist:

Episode 4 - Cersei is immediately overthrown and killed by Euron. Euron then brings his army to face the heroes. However, the heroes talk Euron's divided army into turning against each other. Euron is then anticlimactically offed by Arya as well.

Episode 5 - Jon and Danny have a whole episode long stand off about who will get the Iron Throne. Then they work it out after Varys hosts a counselling session with them for a hear to heart with Tyrion helping.

Episode 6 - Rainbows and Cakes as the entire realm is democratised. And just for the hell of it, its Presidential (and not parliamentary) to cater to the American audience.

Maisie Williams somehow achieves total creative control of the show and gives herself every good bit and the finale ends with Queen Arya.

4 - Not going to happen because of the Valonqar prophecy. Ceicei will be killed by either Jamie or Tyrion according to the prophecy. Probably Jaime. I bet Euron will abandon Cercei if things turn south for him but Asha Greyjoy has to survive or we'll lose yet another historical house in the series.

5- Maybe Bran will make Daenerys look into the past and let her decide.

6 - Possible because Dany states that she want to "break the wheel" instead of perpetuating the current system. Some parts of Essos are somewhat Democratic so it's not like Westeros will be the first continent to do so.

I think "it felt too easy, so they should have killed more major characters" is a thoroughly wrongheaded approach. These things have everything to do with how you pace it, shoot it, how you build and release tension. Just killing more characters isn't going to fix whatever felt off about it.

Look at Helm's Deep. It's basically the gold standard for big fantasy battles, and no one dies except that elf dude no one cares about.
