Damn D&D. They think people are stupid and they fuck up Stannis's character. They also left out Tysha...

Let's see who would be best Euron...which actor is older (not so much old though), looks good with one eye and his (troll)face can easily resonate with cockiness but also cruelty and sharp intellect?

I wonder how they're gonna develop Tyrion now, considering that particular revelation hits him pretty hard.

James Purefoy. But he's all ready in another TV show.

I wonder as well. I'm also puzzled why they left Tysha out when they mentioned her last season. I guess they just thought everyone forgot about her, as they did with "Only Cat," to "Your sister."

If people are unable to remember the name of Robb Stark's mother, who plays a big role in the first three seasons, after one season gone, they are probably too stupid to function by themselves.

Apparently that is the case, according to the Producers.

That is good question. Only Euron is officially acknowledged, Aeron is totally out, since Drowned Man who baptised Theon was just common priest and his story is not so important to not be cut out and Victarion, if there will be, then probably just as sidekick/not important character. If there will be at all.

But who knows who will be chosen as Balon's bros. Don't know about Euron's actor, but for Victarion i see only one good option: Vladimir Kulich.
2 meter tall, total badass dude who played viking warlords more than once, and yet not so known face, it's obviously best choice.

They should really focus back on Iron Islands, since Reek has enough reeked tv time already.

In different clothes, that guy looks like he'd make a good Targaryen, too. If only they explored the lore of the world in flashbacks. He could have been Aerys the "Mad".

No, Kulich is too big and muscular to play the Mad King.

Harry Lloyd (Viserys) would have been good if aged. Jeremy Irons or Jason Isaacs would be decent I think.

Game of Thrones is pretty close to being too expensive already. Flashbacks and maintaining a dozen more characters? eep.

I love Tyrion, Arya, Daenarys, Bran and Oberyn. Daenarys is probably the best for the throne, though she's in a far greyer place than she started in and I don't support her as unreservedly as I once did. I hate Stannis. He's competent and pragmatic but he's also a fundamentalist dick and he killed
Renly
, who was one of the best candidates for the throne.

Out of all the major deaths,
Oberyn
and
Jojen
hit me the hardest. Season 4 also really left me wondering where Gendry went. I'm pretty curious where Theon's sordid arc will end too.

Estormo wrote:Viserys was pretty badass but we know what happened to him, Daenerys is chaotic.

I can't believe anyone actually preferred Viserys to Daenarys. Viserys was a pretentious, racist, misogynist bitch who basically treated his sister as a sex object whereas Daenarys is a warrior-queen who unites disparate cultures and fights against oppression (even if she does get in over her head). Daenarys is easily overwhelmed by the real demands of rulership and her decisions are at times quite brash but I feel like with a court of even-handed and rational advisors she would be a wonderful ruler of the Seven Kingdoms if her people would accept her. She could make great strides against the omnipresent corruption and oppression in Westeros, but she'd have to rein in her more impulsive tendencies and the strain of the Westerosi political climate could fuck her up.

Pretty much this. I like Stannis, but for a supporting character (who lacks a POV in the books, at that), he tends to be overrated to shit.

1) Oh heavens no. She is a terrible ruler.
2) D&D butchered Stannis. At least they pulled off one of his best Mannis moments rather well.

You should read the books, a lot of things are...different and better portrayed.

Again, Daenarys is too hot-headed on her own but I feel like she could do great things if surrounded by the right people.
Unfortunately she just banished one of the reasonable people around her (Jorah).

He was a morally trustworthy guy from what we saw of him. He sought to maintain the friendship between the Baratheons and the Starks and respected northern autonomy. Weigh him against a man who assassinated his brother who , had it pinned on his knight, and has greenlit multiple human sacrifices, and I feel like my perspective is quite understandable. Stannis has definite military and leadership skills. He would be an effective administrator. However, I feel like he would also be a theocratic despot, seeing as Melisandre basically controls him. Maybe if she was out of the picture he could be a respectable king, but she's not going away. There must be dozens of great tacticians and fighters around Westeros but people of strong, worthy principles and ideals are hard to come by. Stannis would not be the worst king, but Westeros should still not fall under a dour and fundamentalist regime, no matter how well-run.

In the books at least, that was Stannis that said that.

The problem in the "theocratic despot" reasoning in this case is: Stannis's fire god is real, very, very real. Not to mention, Stannis is the only one who's not in the Game for the power; he genuinely wants to "save the realm"; that's why he's
temporarily withdrawn himself from the war to fight the White Walkers
.

Well to be fair, and I can't believe I'm defending Joffrey, he does actually think the throne is legitimately his. Not that he'd deserve it anyway.
Also, Robb.

Not that I don't support Stannis over Dany anyway. She's really fallen down my favourite characters list for her recent actions (book-wise, yet to happen in show).

To rule the North independently of the Iron Throne. A clear power motivation there.
