You are an NPC. You are totally innocent but have annoyed the player. They walk up to you and save their game.

Nothing good is about to happen for you.

Jesus, Lyanna's only been dead a couple of weeks and it's all gone to shit without her. This would never have happened with her keeping an eye on things.

Stannis gets resurrected because he was Azor Ahai, stabs his wife's body in the heart, he kills the baby white walker we saw in season 4. Cersei crawls out of the rubble and he strangles her shouting "I'm Renly's older brother, this totally counts!" Then he buys starbucks for everybody. This all happens in the last two minutes.

Just remembered Senile Scribbles joke about that. Classic.

And once again my favorite, but probably not yours, the game of thrones power rankings.

I mean, it is a meme to burn D&D at the stake for their sacrilegious writing recently.

The fans aren't wrong to, but we ought to calm down.

Still better writing than what D&D can muster from their overworked heads.

And that's a major reason why I think the writing for Season 8 has been garbage recently. Because everyone that has been working on the show may have been working themselves off too much and that shows in how the result turned out to be. You can tell in certain scenes and episodes such as the Long Night and the long overdue sack of King's Landing by dragon fire that the people behind the season were pretty tired to the point where they can't remember any plot details from previous seasons that are supposed to be relevant in the current season.

Tiredness might work as an excuse to forget plotlines when you're just someone who watches the show... NOT WHEN YOU'RE THE PEOPLE WHO WRITE IT.

Ah yes, bcoz people who write for a living on big television series with massive budgets, a large array of characters, lots of exotic locations, and the failure of the author to finish the source material thereby forcing them to come up with all sorts of ideas on their own - ah yes, they don't get tired at all.

Sure they do. But I’m not buying it as an excuse for the choppy passing and missed connections. I blame that on the network cutting costs and hours

Holy shit, I can't tell if you purposefully ignored what I said or if you truly missed my point. They can be tired, but when you're the one's adapting and writing the plots you don't just forget them...

I think the writing is fine.

Some of the execution and pacing could have been better but overall its still fine.

Everything kind of makes sense. I can see how in a writer's room what we saw on screen made sense.

First, I'm assuming that close to 90% of what we saw is what Martin told D and D would happen in the end. I don't think sloppy execution here and there suggests they deviated from the final fates of big characters like Varys, Jaime Lannister, or Danny.

D and D may speed things up, simply certain points, but my understanding is that when it comes to final fates, they're mostly consistent.

Cersei's fate makes sense from a writing perspective but perhaps less so in the television version which for some reason, decides that instead of being one of the tragic protagonists (Cersei has TONS of POV chapters in the books) she's the Final Boss until it's subverted.

She was always intended to be a tragic protagonist who stands by who she is and doesn't pretend otherwise. We were in part meant to cheer for her when she destroy the Faith Militant with the wildfire because which one of us has not been ridiculed, ostracized, and poorly treated by large crowds of people at some point? And just like Cersei, we were probably at least partly or completely responsible for having allowed ourselves to come to that point (maybe we too, were a bit myopic) but its completely empowering to see her turn the tables and destroy her enemies.

Also, its highly compelling writing to have her stick to the throne to the very end, even though all hope is lost and to make the final stand.

D and D chose to underplay the impact of the dead children but I'm sure from Martin's writing, that would have been seen as a major punishment (perhaps on par or exceeding Jaime's loss of his sword hand). So narratively, it makes sense that Cersei gets off "easy" because she's already been punished with the loss of the children. Martin has always had a soft spot for the children, you can see how even in his version the Red Wedding didn't include the brutal stabbing of a Robb's baby while inside a mother's womb.

I'm sure in the books, we will feel very bad for Cersei right up until she dies in Jaime's arms. Some of us might not feel that way, again, because of the tone D and D decided to set.

Jaime murdering Cersei and then killing himself would not have been true to his character. That is not who Jaime is, he's defined and compelled by his love for his sister. It makes sense that the story would be kicked off in a way by their relationship while in a northern tower and end in the crypts of the south together.

Again, that arc was decently well executed. Tons of people are going "Jaime threw away several seasons of character development" but that's because they've never understood Jaime Lannister. He sees too much of himself in Cersei to abandon her and it makes sense that he would return, even to his ultimate doom.

I'm sure that Martin too has a hidden "Prophecies are BS" trope which is why D and D dared to move the way they did.

So will Jon suddenly run Queen Danny through with a sword within 20 mins of the next episode and she never saw this coming (very soon after she gets off the dragon)?

Is that where we're headed?

Danny: "The throne doesn't rightfully belong to me but I want it."

Jon: "The throne does rightfully belong to me but I DON'T want it."

The People: "We want Jon."

Jon: "But I don't want the throne."

Danny: "I WANT THE THRONE."

The People: "We don't want you."

(Loop the last 4 lines x 12)

(Arya jumps in and kills Danny instantly)

(cuts to Tyrion and Bronn sitting in High Garden joking around and trying to say something clever to sum up the whole show)

Cuts to Jon on the Iron Throne, then when everyone's gone, takes off a face mask to reveal Arya in disguise

The real Jon walks up North to nowhere on some kind of solitary hero's quest, he's decided never to return to Westeros so as to not jepordize Arya's deception for the greater good.

Speaking of Bronn, haven't heard from him recently since he got some kind of offer from Cersei to bring Tyrion's head to her.

Not that any of that matters since she's dead.

He showed up in E4 and coerced Tyrion into promising him Highgarden and Lord Paramountship (Lordship Paramount?) of the Reach in exchange for not killing him and Jaime.

Did Cleganebowl feel off to anyone else?

Cersei: “stay by my side”

... wait... what do you mean? You mean don’t fight the Hound? But the Hound is in the way so how do you pass him? How awkward would it be for the three of you to try to walk past him just hoping he won’t attack????

Shouldn’t Cersei be fine with Gregor fighting?

Also, why does the Hound not obey now as opposed to earlier? What’s changed? How’s Qyburn’s programming work exactly and why is it failing now????

Also... what are the stakes exactly?

It’s a sort of cool fight but WHY are they fighting at this point? They just don’t like each other? What are we as audience (if not a Hound fan) supposed to care about?

Whole thing felt off and the stakes were strange

Meh, Cleganebowl is what we the audience wanted even tho we won't admit it.
