Dany died surprisingly quickly into the episode. Then again, I guess the majority of the final episode has to be focused on the "ever after".

So the series ends with Westeros becoming essentialy the Holy Roman Empire? Interesting. Altough of course, the system of elective monarchy does have its own flaws as they will find out in due time. (Namely, the Game of Thrones will soon re-emerge over who will get the most support among the elector counts.)

I honestly did not expect Edmure and Sweetrobyn to appear for one final #lolEdmureisfail joke.

Why on Earth would there still be a Night's Watch? There is literally no cause they could possibly serve these days. The Wall is gone, the White Walkers are gone, the Wildlings are gud bois now (btw this is the first time I notice that all things associated with the Watch start with a winter-y "W"), what could they do other than boring themselves to death?

An independent North is fine, but why aren't the Iron Islands independent too? Wasn't that one of the conditions of the Yara-Dany alliance? Btw I find it hard to believe that no Ironborn explorer has ever tried to sail to the west of Westeros. Sorry Arya, but the Vikings were in America before Columbus.

The Dothraki seemed remarkably cool about the whole situation, all things considered. You'd think they'd run amok in the Crownlands and beyond after Dany's death.

Why didn't Drogon kill Jon anyway?

If I didn't know any better, I'd say Bran orchestrated the entire events of the series, or at least the last couple of seasons, to end up on the Iron Throne himself.

Btw, all hail King Daario Naharis, now permanent ruler of the Bay of Dragons.

House Stark now basically rules pretty much everything ever in Westeros. Sansa rules the North, Bran rules the entire rest, Jon will probably become ruler of the Free Folk and Arya will soon found the colony of Nuevo Norte in Americos.

JON PET THE DOGGO ALL IS FORGIVEN

Someone did go west of Westeros in Fire and Blood and is known to have found some small islands. They may or may not have made it to Asshai, since later in the same book someone claims to have seen their ship there.

That was a fun Alt Shift X video.

I was really hoping he'd burn John and then John would emerge unscathed. But that would have taken the show in a mother direction.

As an aside, during the stabbing scene, did anyone wonder who stabbed who initially? Cause I could have seen that go either way.

Targaryens aren't and never have been immune to fire. Only Dany alone was.

Well... at least she wasn't around to see that she inspires so little loyalty even her child refuses to immediately avenge her right then and there...

Dragon calculates: "I should avenge my Mom, I'm ANGRY... Wait... she kind of deserved it (recalculates*)... metaphorically takes out anger on the house instead of the killer and then runs away from home"

Question is why? I mean that's something that's never been explained. It would make sense that it's tied to strength, Dany was incredibly strong so it makes sense the Dragon's immunity runs in her, but the same could be said for John.

Sure, but did it land for everyone?

for some strange reason she loved Jon, I do not see her killing him. While I am being somewhat silly in my picking on Jon,
I do believe if he showed he loved her, kings landing doesnt burn. I do think his ending while in character is a cop-out.

Edit: missing one little "not" changes everything.

the question is, was jon one too? Mrs mermania would say yes.
remember when jon was killed and all the steam came out of his body. I said it was just body heat, mrs mermania said "no, it means jon has dragon inside him"

Maybe it's not a permanent thing? I dunno it's not really explained to begin with, so everything else is pretty much speculation anyway.

Who knows how this Targaryen magic works? Maybe you need some incest for it to kick in. Whatshisface creeping on Dany way back in season 1 turned on her fire immunity, then she turned on Jon's fire immunity with some boat sex.

How is a male going to recreate his species alone?

Reaction on the ending and how the show handled its politics

Postby Egalhorne » Mon May 20, 2019 9:24 am

Like seriously what the actual fck? did Tyrion's political senses died when he killed his father and what's up with
Cersei dying just because of a fcking stone brick.

Well in any case Tyrion's political senses and his character, in general, was just thrown out of the window, he didn't even get to be on the strategy meeting during the battle of Winterfell even though he's clearly the most versed in war tactics.

So the main point is you can't talk something about the Medieval time period or some medievalish setting and with politics without talking about Niccolo Machiavelli and his work The Prince since it's literally the foundation of modern politics and since politics is literally the soul of the show itself then we should expect some clever political strategy in the show and that we got it in the earlier season with House Lannister with their politics and war needs gold strategy especially Tywin, Tyrion and overall Cersie then we got the House Tyrell with Margery and Lady Olena are just brilliant when it comes to scheming and manipulation and then the failure in medieval politics which is discussed in The Prince that is clearly shown to us by Ned Stark's idiotic approach of things in which got himself killed in the end.

And so here we are at the last season where the whole political system of Absolute Monarchy in the continent of Westeros was literally replaced in one day with a DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC system without any sort of retaliation like, what the fck seriously?! you can't just replace a 500yrs.old government system that has been in existence since the beginning of time in just one day
especially when the whole continent just finished a 5year war against each other and a great war against the undead.
