I have a feeling Tyrion will die for her mistake anyway bcoz she can just place the blame on others for the "failure" he displayed.How does that change the fact that he comitted treason right after she had explicitedly told him that he'll die the next time he lets her down.
But as far as they know, he didn't let them down, but delivered her the city with minimal bloodshed. It was Dany who chose to reject the surrender. Not that I think she'll see it that way, being a Mad Queen and all.
