Really? midichlorians?
Solving a problem by introducing a plothole isn't cool.
Your flag, that's something cool.
But midichlorians aren't.
Even autocorrect thinks it shouldn't exist.

Plot hole?
I think I'm the only person apart from George Lucas who actually likes the concept of midichlorians.

I don't mind them. They just give the Jedi a way to find force sensitives. They don't really explain the force or anything like that.

The OT explained the "what" of the Force perfectly, a mystical energy field which binds all life together, and is generated by life. Midichlorians expain the "how" of the Force, by which I mean how the Force is influenced and can influence.

The problem isn't that they exist, but the consequences of their existence.
Want to sift all force-sensitive people from a population? Test all of them for midichlorans.
What evil, morally bankrupt empires could take advantage of this fact, I wonder?
If they forced people to be tested, there would be more dark whatevers for Palpatine to lord over.
Midichlorans were introduced for one thing: showing that Anakins force connection is ridiculously strong.
After that point we're supposed to forget they exist.
Or we're supposed to believe people are really, really stupid.

Imperial Inquisitors for example are force sensitives taken and trained in the dark side as well as captured and brainwashed Jedi. The Clone Wars even had an episode where Palpatine tried to abduct infants that the Jedi were going to recruit and turn them into spies.
Many sources have mentioned midichlorians since.

But they don't do it efficiently!
When you see what the empire does to people, mandatory blood testing seems like something reasonable.
Why don't they test everyone for midichlorians?
Force every citizen of your galactic empire to undergo a midichlorian test.
e.g. Make it a prerequisite to get a passport and say every citizen needs to get one.
Quick, simple, efficient.
Those with high scores are:
- Jedi-->kill them
- weird force cultists-->kill or use them for your own ends
- untrained-->train them for your own ends
And the result is an army of force-sensitives.
Or alternatively loads of dead would-be insurgents if you can't be bothered to train them. Many sources have mentioned midichlorians since.
Thus some people know it exists.
Why does nobody abuse that fact?
It wouldn't be that hard to do.
