You sure about that? Because I am pretty sure Papa Palpatine didn't know Vader would throw him down the Death Star shaft.

I mean if we look at the Endor DLC on Force Unleashed 2 Palpatine knew Vader cloned his own apprentice.

The first movie Tarkin had a plan and he was a little apprehensive about it, but he was pretty sure about it. Humble with a little bravado. Managed to get the location of the Rebel base and almost blew it up.

The second movie Vader had a plan. 100% confident (although not in his commanders...a lot of Force choking) but he got the Rebels off Hoth and he got Han encased in carbonite and he was able to get a chance to fight and talk with Luke. The rest escaped, but wutchuh gonna do about that happening?

The third movie Emperor Palpatine had a plan. He was gonna crush the Rebel ground forces, their fleet, and turn Luke to the Dark Side. He was 120% confident and all smiley about it. Then his dog turned on him, the ground forces prevailed, the Rebel fleet held, and Luke wasn't turned to the Dark Side, along with Palpatine dying and the Death Star II blowing up and the Empire starting to go under.

Palpatine even foresaw his plan working.
Palpatine gets no foresight points, and may the Force have mercy on his soul.

Palpatine's plan was pretty good if you think about it. He just underestimated the stupidity of most Imperials.

I agree with Alekseandrea. There are very few instances of stormtrooper incompetence. Stormtroopers always hit their mark, and they're never fooled by anything. They can quickly adapt to any situation to make a coherent defense or offense. They're pretty elite.

Other than Anakin's dialogue if it needs to be said. I'll give you that one.

Too much cheesy-ass dialogue between Padme and Anakin, not enough details on the actual origins of the Clone Wars and the reasons for the formation of the CIS.

I mean, I get that there is a secession brewing and there are grumbling so in the Republic but why? What's with the brouhaha and the Military Creation Bill that Palpatine was trying to foot in the Senate? (Also, kinda ironic how Padme, who literally had the previous Chancellor deposed in Episode I for doing a Chamberlain in the face of Trade Federation aggression, now does a complete 180-degree u-turn on the Military Bill because violence and force are suddenly bad m'kay)

All in all, there were many things in Episode II that could've been better explained in greater detail and some other things set aside.

It was probably made by the Sand People. Only Imperial storm troopers can be so precise.

All in all, there were many things in Episode II that could've been better explained in greater detail and some other things set aside.

These are valid criticisms. People complain that Episode II had too much politics in it but the movie failed to really explain a lot of its politics. That being said I do think we're given enough information to understand the gist of the Separatists.

The movie doesn't at all introduce us to most of the Separatist Council. We just see a bunch of aliens who want to sign Count Dooku's treaty. However I do think the movie gives us enough information to really understand their role in the story. Episode I introduced us to Nute Gunray and we do get to see his character and motivations. He's greedy and self serving, but also being manipulated by Palpatine. Episode II pretty much implies that the Separatist council is a council of Gunrays. They're greedy and largely doing what they do for their own benefit, but they're also fundamentally pawns of Dooku and Sidious. The movie gives you enough information to understand their role in the story. We don't get to see all the politics involved no but remember that any legitimate grievances the Separatists had are irrelevant to their true purpose, which is simply to start the Clone Wars.

I don't think you really understand Padme though. She doesn't have a problem with violence in general. I mean she does carry a pistol. She just saw the Clone army for what it was. Violence was fine to liberate Naboo because the Trade Federation acted illegally, but that doesn't mean she wanted the Clone Army to repress the galaxy. She wanted to talk to the Separatists, and when the Clone Army was revealed she realized that someone was interested in making sure peace wasn't an option. As the Clone Wars went on she realized that was Palpatine. There are deleted scenes from III where she meets with the future leaders of the rebel alliance and basically starts the rebellion.

I have a fan theory about Palpatine. You know how he's really smart and very little goes wrong for him for so long?

What if it's not real? What if he's delusional and increasingly senile? Nute Gunray is just an intern that he pretends is the Viceroy. Count Dooku is his nurse. The Clone Wars were fought entirely with foam weapons and harmless lights. The Empire is just what everyone calls the nursing home they eventually put Palpatine into. The force isn't real and when he thinks he's using lightning he's actually just making weird noises. Everyone goes along with it because his family donates a lot of money.

To be fair, soldiers irl run into machine gun fire sometimes. Have you ever seen Saving Private Ryan?

Real machine guns aren't so bright though. In Star Wars it's like a big sign that says don't walk here, but they'll be damned if they don't walk there.
