So, do you mean to say not all high schoolers have some workable knowledge of physics?!

The manuals explain everything on where they need to go.

As for knowledge and skills, I was referring to the fact that people don't need to know physics and know how to solder things and such.

It's just a matter of learning what parts are needed, which can be achieved through resources like magazines or the Internet. It's like shopping for a TV or car. Higher numbers and letters are better.

The vast majority of people won't have the patience to do this. People want to go in a store, buy a computer, go home and plug it in.

Also, i really doubt that a lot of people know how to bloody solder or even own the tools to do so.

I think you're seriously underestimating the intelligence of the average consumer.

And I say this as a proponent of a political system that basically assumes idiocy in the average consumer.

We need a car discussion thread...

So I can explain why 'Murican machines are superior to European machines.

Classic 'Murica > Classic Europe.

GT 'Murica > GT Europe.

Most consumers are either too lazy to build a PC, or they are ignorant and believe the reason prebuilt systems are so successful is because it is hard to build a computer.

I think you are seriously overestimating the patience and availability of time of the average consumer.

Make the following metal exercise, think of all your relatives and friends that use computers, and how many would assemble a computer while having the alternative of buying one that is already ready to go.

People don't even like connecting wires, that's why some people purchase all-in-one computers.

I don't assume that they are stupid, i just assume that the vast majority of people treat the computer as any appliance around the house.

Put it in FB&NI. Call it "Automobiles in your nation" and then just discuss cars the whole time.

That's basically how MMW/IDT works.

That is a fact, NationStates needs that thread...

At the very least for me to explain how classic British cars were much better than americans cars...when they worked.

So apparently AMD just tweeted this. Something big is coming.

Almost certainly not the R9 300 series, considering the 285X isn't even out yet and the 295X is still mostly speculation.

Although it would be interesting of the 365 through the 370 were released while the 270X through the 295X2 were maintained.

It's really not as complicated as it sounds.

Basically you take three or four hard drives and put them inside this "fake hard drive" (FHD). The FHD acts as a RAID 0 controller, but you can RAID multiple FHDs together, and the drives themselves don't see that they've been RAID'd.

This would not only drastically decrease boot/load times, it would also mean that you can have a shit ton of hard drives using very few actual SATA cables.

So, to clarify, it'd be like a RAID 0 array but it'd have the advantage of gaining all 4 drives' speeds as well as their space without splitting data across all volumes?

Basically. I'd also have the advantage of being able to RAID multiple RAID 0 arrays into other types of RAID arrays as if the RAID 0 arrays were single drives.

The FHD itself would have a CPU-esque memory cache in order to transfer data between the drives and computer.

Pls no.

Open-source pls.

Or at least sell licenses.

Not to mention that it's a very niche product, and is also going to cost quite a bit.

Just look at Thunderbolt drive bays.
