I downloaded Avast as normal but forgot that some of the preloaded software with my motherboard included Norton.

Avast is constantly identifying Norton files as "trojan horse viruses"

You can also just mark your connection as being metered, then it will just fail to download updates until you turn it off.

To be honest, Windows 10 is a really nice OS had it not been for the telemetry and all the advertising rubbish. It took an hour and multiple restarts to scrape it all off, and it to do it every major update (6 months or something like that) is not worth my energy.

Preach!
Mum pays for a Norton subscription. Ten devices for $30, whoooo. You cannot get decent coverage for $3 a machine. If it was decent they wouldn't be offering it as free bundleware with other, marginally more useful software downloads/installs.
I'd prefer ESET, which we use at work and I'm honestly pretty impressed with, but "abloobloo we haven't had trouble with Norton". That's because I installed AdBlock and NoScript, you cabbage!

Hell, there are free antiviruses that are far better than Norton. And also aren't fucking adware.

I know backups are one thing, but I cannot decide whether to stick with AVG or is there now a better option that doesn't have so many ads and such?

Yes, many. Avast is good (you need to do some weird tricks with the installer to stop the ads, but otherwise fine), as is Bitdefender.

If a game for PC needs 4GB DDR3 RAM in the requirements, does a stock 4GB RAM is enough?

DDR3 is a type of RAM. The RAM in your computer is almost certainly either DDR3 or DDR4, unless it's very old.

Also compared to a lot of modern games, 4GB is actually not bad. I’ve seen quite a few games require at least 8GB.

The ones that "require" 8GB don't require 8GB of RAM to run, but for 8GB to be installed on your machine, to run smoothly. I have my browser still fully open and other apps operating when I launched "8GB" games and the highest it's ever been pushed is 6.5GB total.

Two of my hard disks (both holding two logical volumes each) are reporting 2 pending sectors. One of them also reports 2 un-correctable sectors. CrystalDiskInfo reports both to be at Caution stage – the worst cases are 58.3% and 84.8% respectively.

Is it time for replacement?

You mean 80% and less? Because 100% indicates a healthy disk.

I guess I have to go shopping, but on not Amazon since the best hard drives (according to Backblaze) are not there (or am I limiting myself to the enterprise?).

Somehow expected that having second monitor would increase the power draw of GPU(or whole system), but I guess the process of multiplying outbound data isn't that intensive, once it's already processed.

So was I :)

There are better parts for all areas of my build, but mine is totally serviceable.

I tried out the new Ubuntu 18.04 LTS under a minimum install, and that apparently removed the Amazon icon among other stuff that production servers do not use. :)

Also, welcome back GNOME.

Since you didn't actually ask, I went with the MSI B350M "Gaming Pro" mITX, for an AMD architecture. It only has 2 RAM slots, one primary PCI-E-3 expansion, and a much smaller, secondary PCI-E-2 slot but it was affordable.

When I was looking at an Intel-based build, I was looking at the ASRock H110M mATX for the same reason. This also features two RAM slots, one PCI-E-3 and two PCI-E-2 slots.

Guys, i know what i am going to talk about is not related to computers - but i really need some help with my audio stuff!

Image

(the above pic is not mine, but i have the exact model as this)

It was my Aiwa Z-D9500M HiFi stereo system which refuses to play CDs - despite the CD player feature being not used for more than 6 years. I did try to put in my Norah Jones Feels Like Home CD (HDCD version) and it did detect all the tracks correctly, but when i hit play, it doesn't do anything rather than making motor noises. Does anyone on here.. perhaps an audiophile can give me a suggestion on how to fix this problem?

What, RAM slots? Well like I said, I built on a budget with a mini-ATX, could've gone for a full ATX though.
