Which brand do you prefer?
Republic of Gamers (ASUS gaming brand)
MSI
Gigabyte
EVGA
ASRock

I prefer RoG myself :)

AMD for processors, ASUS for motherboards, AMD/XFX for graphics (when possible, they're getting harder to find), anything that isn't Seagate for storage and Corsair for power. RAM is sale-dependent.

And now, specs:

Manufacturer: Me
Processor: AMD FX-8350
Memory: 16GB DDR3
Hard Drive: 180GB SSD (Corsair Force GS), 2 x 4TB Hitachi Deskstar (one for general data, the other for music/movies shared on the network).
OS: Windows 8.1
Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7970

You rocking the CFV-Z?
I hope that FX is on water :)
And what's the clock on the RAM? What's the brand?
I don't get what you mean by XFX getting hard to find. On pcpartpicker they have pretty much everything XFX has to offer.

*No, I have the original CFV, the Z came out after this build. And as for the CPU, it's not on water, just a Hyper 212+ (EVO came out after this build). Maybe one of those Corsair loops sometime in the future, although temps are decent.

*As I said, RAM is sale-dependent. In this particular case, G.Skill and DDR3-1333.

*For a while the local parts shop had a drought of XFX Radeon cards, probably due to Monopoly money miners. It seems to have gone away now, but this 7970 is still doing well enough that I don't have to look for another one.

Darn.
Get it on water, you'll get a sweet OC on that beauty.
Upgrade the RAM first though. I mean, my god that is a horrid clock.

Windows user here. I've got Win8 on my laptop (Lenovo Y410p, which btw is a truly excellent laptop - it's also on a 40% discount sale right now) and Win7 on my desktop (HP, can't be bothered to look up the specific model name/number) which also has a setup of two lolhuge monitors.
I support peace in Israel and Palestine. The governments and people in power on all sides are an absolute disgrace, and their unwillingness to pursue peace is a disservice to the people they are meant to be serving. The status quo is not simply untenable; it is unquestionably unacceptable.

Is is just me or are the prices on AMD graphics card finally but slow receding to their MSRPs?

Actually a lot of them are there already.
If you check partpicker, most of the R9 290s are just barely above 400USD.
And the R9 270xs have been at their 230ish USD pricepoint for a while.
It's because with the Mt. Gox situation, people are more reluctant to start mining. And the suppliers finally have the supply to lower prices.
R9 290xs have been a little over 600USD for a while too.

My PC was fantastic back in say, 2007. Now it's just a dying hunk of junk that I intend to have replaced once I get a job this summer.

I bought ME3 on a disc.

But yeah, it's about time we actually started to officially phase them out.

Umm...what PC gamer still uses disc installs except for old classics like NWN2?

I got into the Steam In-home Streaming beta.

I managed to stream Goat Simulator to my Ubuntu Netbook.

That's what I call next-gen.
