You know what that boy needs? Some martial arts lesson, that way he can lay down the smack down on anyone who says his favorite pony is worse pony.

Although, I think the Superintendent of the school is just using the backpack as a cover. I mean this story of the boy who tried to kill himself because he was bullied has gained a lot of traction and attention. So maybe the Superintendent is just trying to make sure that his school doesn't receive anymore negative press...by going about it completely the wrong way.

Exactly, I think that's what the Superintendent is trying to do. Of course by stating that the kid can't bring his pony backpack, he inadvertently caused a shit storm.
